Hey, like many of you I bought my stuff on 1/1/10 and spent $82 after tax. I went back to TRU today to get some $$ back. I thought for sure they would only refund me $10 (hopefully on my credit card), since all I had was my receipt.
Apparently TRU didn't send ads out this week, so I had to go in the WWE section and show the lady the sign so that she would the price adjustment. (I later discovered while she was adjusting my bill that the system automatically reduces the price vs. the cashier.)
I asked the lady if it was possible to split my purchases up into 2 of $40. She said yes, then checked my receipt and said that I had only spent $76 before tax. I then asked that if I went back and bought something else could she do it, and she said that was fine. So I went back and they had fully restocked and added several more sets of basic, entrance greats, and 2-pks. Oddly enough there was still no beth/santino. They also had added 2 sets of Elite. I was torn between buying Bourne and getting $10 back or MVP and getting $5. I figured that i should give Elite a try, so I went with MVP. I sure am happy I did, because when I went up there and asked if the lady needed my card to put the refund on she said no. She then handed me a TRU gift card (with like $5.41 and my MVP), and I realized that they must only give TRU gift cards on returns/price adjustments. Needless to say I was happy that I had chosen the more expensive figure because I don't really shop much at TRU and the only other mattel I kinda want is heritage orton...and it seems like only target has those. I'm a tad upset that I couldn't have just gotten my account credited as I wasn't really planning on buying more mattel for a little bit, however I am happy that I did get another mattel figure for free and $5 towards a future purchase.
So morale of the story for those of you who got Mattel stuff at TRU at any time (as I think they have a 90 day return policy), go back and have them adjust your bill. If you spent over $40, go and pick out some more stuff and have them split up the purchases... essentially you're picking out stuff for free.
