Where do you see rappers in 40-50 years. Do you see them still rapping? Like Eminem for example. He's in his 30's now. If he survives to be 60-70, do you see him still rapping? Rap has been around since the 80's. Everyone that started than is in there 40's or 50's now. But where do you see the bigger stars like Lil Wayne/Eminem & others?
I think it'll be really interesting seeing Eminem when he's 60 or 70. It'll really show how far music has been.

It will be dead. It's already a dying genre.
This coming from a rap fan, I just don't see much originality or creativity left in the form anymore...it peaked in the late 90's. Golden age was the early 90's, but after the Big and Pac deaths, it was just over-commercialized and exploited. Now it's sucked dry.
DEAD.

yes it will be dead and buried if all is right in the world, and people will once again start to care about people that play instruments again.

Rap died when Biggie died. Eminem is the only good rapper anymore but I think he lost it.

It won't be dead because all the people who want to be rappers won't vanish off the face of the earth. But it's hard to say what the state of music as a whole will be that far down the road because technology is evolving exponentially and the industry is struggling to keep up.

Well, there's going to be a bunch of senior citizens blaring it, yelling for the young'ns to turn down their classical, big band, swing music.

The way I see it,sh*tty mainstream rap will have lost all popularity.Hip Hop music will still be around as an undeground form of music, but it will be very obscure, more so than the undeground rap scene of today. It wont have any mass appeal anymore.

There are only so many things you can do with samples until it starts repeating itself. I say it will be dead. There are very few rappers left who actually have anything to say.

As opposed to a lot metal bands currently who have anything to say? No form of music really has the ability to die, someone will always have a different take on it. From what rap started as to what rap is now are like completely different things. Find the amount of kids that love Lil Wayne who even know Sugarhill Gang.

The problem with your reasoning is the fact that Rap started for inner city kids, now has progressed to where it's shoved down the youth's of todays throat through MTV and other outlets. You know what I'm pissed about that. It pisses me off the my 6 year old nephew knows who Lil Wayne is but has no clue who Metallica, The Beatles, Rush, etc are. That is complete bullshit. If it wasn't for video games (Beatles Rock Band and Guitar Hero Metallica) most of today's youth would know country, rap, pop, or mainstream crap (ie Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga). Hopefully rap dies, IMO it should be killed off, you could make a case for some of rap's stars to be role models, but very very few. Granted metal has very few. But what about people like U2, Bruce Springsteen, etc. That is what youth today should be listening to. Both on and off of the stage both are class acts, which can't be said for many artists today. Oh well, that's my take on it.

Oh well, that's my take on it. U2? HAHAHAH. Bono as a role model will just lead kids to being huge douche bags. He says we need to help save the earth, he buys a seat on an airplane for his hat. His tour blows $750k per show in stadiums world wide, just so he can feed his ego that his hand has the biggest show. Springsteen? I love Springsteen, I argue Springsteen with people because of how bad Born in the USA is compared to every other E Street Record. But Springsteen did a shi**y thing that knocks him down in my book. When his concerts didn't use the union in Washington(yes, SPRINGSTEEN, didn't use a union): when his limo went to enter the arena, he crept down so they wouldn't even have a shot at seeing him. That's low. From a guy who everyone viewed as for the common man, he did that. Beatles, as a whole whatever. But John Lennon cheated on his first wife with the woman everyone views destroyed the Beatles and Paul McCartney had cheated on Jane Asher, his pot issue in Japan, Wings as a whole. Metallica is one I would view as decent role models, the entire band overcame problems to be better and continue their career. No rock stars are really even close to good role models. You may view their music as more superior, but it isn't to everyone. I'm not the foremost expert on rap, so I'm not one to judge anything they really do. I listen to stuff like Atmosphere, Sage Francis, POS, Cage, Beastie Boys, Subtle, and MIA. I wouldn't say I'm one to really care what influence Lil Wayne really has. Kids know that jail is a bad thing, I doubt he's influencing them to really get there.

Idk about rap in 50 years.. But I do see it slowly fading to the back burner in the coming years.. I have a lovely itch that actual Hip-Hop is making a comeback within the next 5-7 years.. Out of random.. I enjoy Saigon.. Dunno.. Dun care.. Just do.. Not necessarily, theres still some good rappers like: KiD CuDi B.O.B Bobby Ray Royce Da 5'9 Lupe Fiasco rap will be dead soon, but its not dying now Did you just call Cudi a good rapper? Idk if you just don't like CuDi.. But point being is I consider his list more hip hop than "rap"..
