Just weeks after winning "Fight of the Year" at the 2009 World MMA Awards, Clay Guida has been matched up in a fight that could very well be one of the best of 2010.
"The Carpenter," who has become one of the UFC's more popular fighters because of his relentless attack and never say die attitude, will likely take on Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk at UFC Fight Night 21 in Denver, Colo., according to NWItimes.com.
Sherk had to drop off UFC 108 on Jan. 2 after receiving a nasty gash across his forehead. "The Muscle Shark" last fought at UFC 98, getting dominated on the feet en route to unanimous decision defeat at the hands Frankie Edgar.
Guida has made a name for himself with his high-energy performances ... and the fans love to see him fight. He is on a two-fight skid; however, he still manages to get a fight with the former lightweight champion. Guida will certainly look for a better outcome than his fights with Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez.
UFC Fight Night 21 has yet to be officially announced, but this lightweight bout will likely be featured on the Versus telecast. Unless, of course, the promotion puts the mixed martial artist formerly known as Kevin Ferguson on the card.
Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for breaking news and updates surrounding UFC Fight Night 21.
Wow. What a great fight! I hope Guida would win this but man I could see it being a war!

I can't really think of anything Guida has on Sherk other than maybe Cardio and Speed. Sherk has some sick cardio though.
I think it's going to take something special for him to finish The Muscle Shark off.
As for Kimbo? I just think it's weird when he's referred to as Kevin Ferguson. I can't think of anyone who he should go up against either.

Damn...how is it Guida loses to Sanchez and Florian and his next fight is Sherk? That is a hard f***ing fight for a guy who is in a 2 fight losing streak. Usually if you lose two fights in a row you go a few steps down in competition. Sean Sherk is not a few steps down in competition...I think Sherk will win if this fight happens...

As much as I like Guida, I don't see him getting the win here. Kind of scary to think that Clay could be en-route to a 3 fight losing streak, and a pink slip.

This will be one hell of a fight to watch but Sherk will get the win in this fight

I had a conversation with my roommates about how I can't stand my favorite fighters always fighting each other:
Sherk/Florian, Griffin/Sherk, Huerta/Guida Guida/Florian
And now Guida/Sherk, and these two guys are my two favorite fighters. It's so hard for me to root for someone. As far as this fight goes, If Sherk tries to stand & bang, there's a shot he loses, or it goes the distance. If he goes back to his wrestling, he'll ground and pound his way to a victory.

I think Sherk will take this one, but Guida won't make it easy for him. I'm picking Sherk via a tough, but unanimous, decision.
Also, I don't think Guida will be cut even if he goes on a four-fight losing streak, let alone a three-fight losing streak. Guida is incredibly popular and always puts on amazing fights, the UFC has a history of keeping on fighters that put on great fights even if they go on losing streaks.

Plus even if he is cut he can just go to strikeforce and get to avenge his loss and take the strap from Melendez...

Guida isn't going anywhere. He puts on exciting fights even in losing efforts.

Guida is by far the most popular gatekeeper. He'll probably stay in the ufc until his popularity dies out.
Either way Sherk is like a better version of Guida in every single way.
