Former WWE wrestler Brian Kendrick went off on WWE in an interview with Slam Wrestling on a number of subjects.
Kendrick was released from WWE in July 2009 when he says WWE VP of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis fired him over the phone, claiming WWE was making budget cuts. The following are highlights of Kendrick's interview.
-- Kendrick claimed he had a prescription to use marijuana, which he was repeatedly fined for as part of WWE's Wellness Testing. Kendrick suspects that could have contributed to the real reason he was released from his WWE contract.
"I asked (Laurinaitis) for the real reason, 'Is it the pot fines?' I had a script for it, I had heated discussions with Dr. Black, I had to refuse a test to get him to call me at one point. He wouldn't admit to that," Kendrick said. "I wanted honesty, maybe I got it, but I think more likely I am dealing with a coward. He did fire me over the phone after all."
-- Kendrick revealed that Bryan Danielson was his planned tag partner as part of "The tag partner" storyline that was played up just before Kendrick left WWE.
"We both had been very actively trying to become a tag team," Kendrick said. "He would have been the surprise partner, except they never cared enough to materialize the surprise partner."
Kendrick added that he believes Danielson will be a good fit in WWE's locker room because he's not rebellious like he is.
"I prefer to be rebellious, or not be a slave, or what ever you want to call it. His lifestyle is clean, he should be fine," Kendrick said. "He doesn't have a problem with authority the same way I do."
-- Kendrick said he intentionally tried to upset Vince McMahon just so he could "get out of the building" during TV tapings, which he was not a pleasant experience for him.
"The boss, I heard, not from his mouth, hates cigarettes, so I would smoke a half a pack a day at work," he said. "It was also an excuse to get the f--- out of the building for ten minutes at a stretch."
Kendrick added: "TV sucked because you saw a circus, backstabbers, power hungry people, suck ups, weak people. Also lots of really great, nice, funny people. But I felt like a tool sitting in the bleachers waiting in case they need my skills for something."

I like Kendrick's in ring work, and I'm sure he probably was wronged in some way or another, but to be honest, he comes off as a complete ass in that interview.

sounds like a pissed off ex-worker. However kendrick really made me like him more with this. As if he had a prescription then they should atleast look into it. Why would he have a script for it anyway? BTW since when is script a cool word?

For someone who supposedly didn't want to be there, he sure sounds bitter.

Nice to know. That tag team would have been cool.
So I guess if people speak their mind they are bitter? Don't people want the truth? I mean I want to know what he really thinks not him saying "Oh everyone was great just to me.." just to be on good terms.

Vince hates smoking eh? Randy Orton should probably look for work elsewhere then.

I seriously hate him.
Why is he bragging that he is a rebel and being bitter that he got released for breaking clear rules constantly?
He talks himself up loads in this interview alone. He's bound to be all talk though, because he always looked like 'the most likely to get his ass kicked' on the whole roster.
Never rated him, never liked him, and I hope he enjoys many more years of people not knowing who he is.

Kendrick is an idiot. Going ahead with this team would have ruined Danielson.

Kendrick is an idiot. Going ahead with this team would have ruined Danielson. I have to agree. Kendrick basically said that these two are nothing alike because Danielson does what he is told and doesn't rebel against authority. How would this team work?

Kendrick is a really good wrestler and I wouldn't doubt some of that stuff he said was true. The him smoking squares to piss McMahon off was funny. I hear a lot about this Brian Danielson, would like to see him debut soon.
