After watching the james bond-esque opening for MGS3, i was wondering if there is going to be a metal gear solid movie and if there was any plans to make one? Im not even an action movie fan but i would definately see it in cinemas If there is a MGS movie being made, who would you have play Solid Snake

There were talks of one a while ago, but I do believe it's been either shelved or ceased.
I'd rather they didn't make one unless they made a completely CG movie like FF VII: Advent Children.

Talk of one of those has been around for quite awhile, but like was said, I think it was shot down. I never really felt the urge to see one made mainly because the games seemed like movies themselves to me. I remember a lot of peple saying they wanted to see Hugh Jackman play Snake, but I never liked that idea. My choice would have been Karl Urban.

There have been talks for years and years. It'll never happen though.

The games were already movies, I don't need to experience a watered down version of the story again just because it stars real life people.

There have been talks. I heard David Hayter (Voice of snake) actually wrote a script but it got turned down.
Anyway, the movie most likely won't work. If anything it'll damage the franchise. Here are some reason why
1. I don't see how they can execute the codec scenes without boring people to death. They can do it like in MGS4 where it played during gameplay but it'll kind of look weird on the big screen imo.
2. It's going to be freakin hard to find an actor who can play Solid Snake. Unless, they have a time machine and can get the young Clint Eastwood, there's no one who seems like they can play the part. Also they'll probably have to dub over the voice of the actor with Hayter or fanboys will boycott the movie.
3. There's way too much story and information in the game that they can't fit into the movie. Sure they can cut some stuff out, but I feel there's nothing you can really cut out the story without making a complete plot hole.
Maybe the movie could work. But if they're going to make it completely off the games like other video game movies, I say don't make it at all.

If they did do a movie, it could easily work as a trilogy. I mean, couldn't they do the first game within three movies?
