I thought, as much as people liked the CM Punk thread, this may be helpful to some other members. Snippet from my blog: On his right arm, I was VERY impressed to see the, "Another Lost Soul" piece done in such fantastic detail, just like Edge's "Rise Above" tattoo, the text is very easy to read. My only critique is that Mattel could use some shading, as his 'thinking demon' is pretty hard to make out without it.If you're interested, I also have write ups with similar pictures for Elite Edge, Entrance Greats Rey, and Santino on my blog, along with reviews.

Man those looks awesome. Not just the pics but also the tats, those details are just downright phenomenal. To see this level of detail on a mass produced figure selling for as low as $10 (for heritage) is pretty incredible. Its unbelievable the amount of detail mattel included. Far better than the half arm covered tattoos of jakks.

i love your posts like these, i was actually gonna ask about the thinking demon cause on my heritage taker i couldn't spot him. Yeah, they could REALLY use some shading, but I have no idea how they would achieve it on an action figure. Here's some pics I pulled from another site of his actual ink. Still, incredible detail for a mass produced toy. I ing love they way you take pics so clear. I need to get me a light box any recommendations? Yeah! Don't pay $100+ for one, when you can make one yourself for under $15 - that's my recommendation, lol. Love these detailed pics posts, +1! These are especially helpful with Taker, as his tats are harder to make out with the naked eye than Punk's are. Only reason I was able to find the "thinking Demon" on the figure myself was because I knew where it was already, it would have been much tougher otherwise without some pics like those. It really is astounding that some people still try to act like the work Jakks did was better than Mattel's, in the face of such impressive work as this.

By the way, are you the same DrunkenFist that posts on ActionFigurePics? If so, you're the one I owe thanks to for making me want the Elite Punk as badly as I did, lol. Mattel's detail work is FAR superior to Jakks, it's insane of people (in my opinion) to say something contrary. As far as details on head scans/sculpts go - people need to take that up with Gentle Giant, as I believe they're doing the heads... I mean, that's the only real complaint I'm hearing. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when these things are being designed.

I think people are overreacting with the head sculpts on these guys. There are only a few that are sub-par, we certainly got plenty from Jakks that weren't too good. They'll improve with time, and for now, what we're getting definitely isn't bad. Many of the MAttel figures have head sculpts that are my favorites to date for those wrestlers, like Santino, Punk, and Taker. I just need to go ahead and bookmark your blog, I know I'm gonna want to see these kinds of pics whenever you post 'em! They're a great reference if I wanna marvel at the detail without straining my eyes looking at the actual figure!

Thanks! I agree on the head sculpts too! I think they did a GREAT job on Santino and Beth imparticular. Batista looks pretty spot on too.
I am SO anxious to see what they do with future releases. I have legitimately not been so excited for a mass retail action figure line in years, I never collected regular RA figures because they looked kind of silly to me (and I'm not just saying it now) - the only figures from Jakks I own are all CM Punks... if they didn't paint details on SO ridiculously often that should have been sculpted out, and had a little variety with body parts, I think it could have done a world of good.
But yeah, I'm anxious now, to see what they do with the divas the most - only because Jakks used the same body, with different paint apps and different heads the WHOLE time. Remember how their 'make up' looked?
If Mattel lives up to their words and delivers on the accuracy and different body types they claimed they will, my head might explode. I only have a few figures right now, but if we can get a roster of men and women, that look pretty damn realistic and unique, I'll be floored.
I'm still in shock of how well they've done tattoos on these. Sleeveless MVP will be interesting to see.

I cant help but agree with everything you just said in your post. After seeing this thread i went to go snap pics of my elites including Taker and thought id get my Jakks taker out and check out the tats and boy oh boy are their efforts laughable. You should do a taker version of mattel vs jakks because if punk seemed bad, taker is going to be even worse. They were just green squiggly lines just outlining some noticeable shapes. Compared to what youve photographed, the attempt made by jakks on takers tats is actually quite embarassing.
As for the Divas, if beth is a sign of whats to come then the future is promising. Jakks did very poorly with divas in the later times. They all had that horrible orange oompa loompa skin tone with the exception of a few like Lillian. The makeup often ruined figure like Stephanie and others.

Beautiful shots man. Thanks for this.
I am blown away that there is this much detail on a mass produced action figure.
Honestly there is some $100+ stuff that sometimes don't hit this level of minute detail.

Wow great pics, I saw your punk comparison pics in another thread but the rest of your pics are just as awesome. They really make the figures look that much better. I don't think I've seen pics where Santino looks so perfect. This really makes me that more excited about mattel. Nice site too bro.

Thanks for the pics AdamBomb. Stuff like this also brings up something I absolutely love about Mattel and that's the way they do the arms. With Jakks they always had the visible joint at the should which interfered with guys like Batista, Undertaker, Mysterio, and Orton. With Mattel the joint isn't visible making it easier to get full tats.

i caved in and bought my first mattel figure and it was elite undertaker. i kept seeing the pics everyone was posting and it was looking better and better each time. i'm gonna pick up elite rey mysterio too just because of the tattoo detail. like mentioned above, i love the fact that the shoulder joints don't take away from the detail of the tattoos. i'm still a big fan of DA's since it's my collection but i'll be picking up certain mattel elites.

Thanks for the comments everyone!
About tattoos/joints, I absolutely LOVE that over the elbow joints on the inside of the arm, Mattel is putting the designs ON the joint, in such a way that doesn't scratch the paint off. The arms seem to be done so well also, that when the arms are in a 'natural' down position - the tattoos match up perfectly.
I may have to go out and try to pick up a Jakks 'Taker, just to do a comparison. I can't wait to get my hands on an Elite Orton and see what they do with his tattoos, I REALLY hope they add some shading though.
---And the "oompa loompa' skin tone on the divas - Natalya (to my memory) had it the WORST! It was awful. When I was at K-Mart the other day (this is for people who say Jakks' heads were flawless), why dear GOD does Tyson Kidd look like a Pug?

Little off topic, but you know what I really love?
The fact that they gave Punk his own kickpads. Little things like that are just awesome. They could have easily used the same mold that they used for Edge/Kofi/Jericho and painted the details (*ahem* Jakks *ahem*).

Painting a little design was SOOOO awesome! But really, I love how Mattel has sculpted the boots on everyone, the wrinkles add SO much life to them.

Yeah, I was pointing out the individual boot sculpts to my girlfriend last week. She's has a bit of a thing for shoes, so she understood the importance!

Hey guys! I was hoping I could have you do a favor for me. I've edited my blogs HTML in hopes to make browsing easier, so I've added "Read More" links to the posts. Rather than making a new thread, I was hoping some of you guys here could check it out, and offer some feedback?
