Hey all, this week i manage to purchase some of Mattels elite range. Fortunately for us, the Australian store selling them managed to botch their sale prices and discounted the elites which normally sell for $30 each to a whopping $14 each (basics are $15 here) in which the american equivalent would be $8-$9, just under a basics price. So i was able to purchase the whole set and if the basics seemed impressive, mattel delivers that extra bit more in their elites. The articulation, unlike the DA line, does not give the figures a 'flimsy' feel to them. The figures seem solid yet have the additional articulation you'd want on a figure. The amount of detail particularly with accessories means your basically purchasing IE level quality figures but in a regular set. As for the carding, a figure can be easily removed and resealed. The carding itself is perhaps my most favourite carding for a wrestling figure ever. It looks that good. MVP: The elite figure with the least amount of additional accessories but perfect choices. MVP isnt complete without his bling and even a removable headband. Mattel got all the attire details in from the zip to the 'Protect This Ring' lettering down the side. The scan is one of mattels better ones and the chains fit nicely around his neck. A solid figure for the first set. Edge: The scan for this figure is often looked down upon around here but in person it actually is very promising. The equivalent by jakks would be the hideous RA29, so by comparison, mattel wins there. The colour of the hair could be a tad darker though. The torso is great though for Edge, he is not that young ripped guy he was in the early 000's and this torso suits. The tights feature the lightning details even on the back near the top. Tattoo work is phenomenal as well. The jacket is hard to get off, thats for sure but then again jakks equivalents were the leather jackets which had crap detail (really they did, painted leather looks ridiculous) and even the leather took a bit of maneouvering to get off. Mattels jacket however has incredible detail and is a jacket youd actually like to have when displaying the figure. Rey: Given its size yet immense detail its hard not to notice Elite Rey. Having a smaller figure with such a large amount of articulation can make them flimsy but not this rey, its hardly any different to the others in this regard. Rey often sports different entrance attire but mattel captured it well with a throwover with great detail on the front. The extra mask is actually made of a solid plastic so it clips on and wont slide off. Also, his eye can actually line up to the eye slot on the mask, another detail which show mattels eye for detail, no pun intended...much. The half mask scan is also solid, some dont like it and perhaps its a little too round but its nice to get a neutral expression rey. Reys tattoo work is brilliant and probably the best its ever been represented in figure form. Elite rey is definitely one of the highlights of the first set. CM Punk: Its praised as one of the best not only in the set but of mattels wwe figures so far. Its not hard to see why though. Sure mattel give you a cool detailed shirt to include, but they have nothing to hide underneath it. Amazingly detailed tattoos and on a mass produced figure, its pretty incredible to think mattel went to such lengths. The scan features a cocky punk and with a very strong likeness. Also, we get a punk attire we've not had featured in figure form before. Punk himself also has a very unique torso shape, but the elite really captures it. The pics speak for themselves, this figure is simply phenomenal. Undertaker: Sure, punk is definitely one of the best in the set, but i personally rank Undertaker very highly and up there with him. This figure, looks like a statue-like extremely realistic representation of Undertaker. The scan may not photograph well at times but in person its actually very good. Sure a slightly better paint application and widows peak can lift it to 100% dead on (again no pun intended) as rayferraro showed but currently it is a very solid representation of Taker particularly with the hat on. The coat maybe hard to remove but looks miles better than any generic leather coat. The hat is nice and big yet fits snug as well. Mattel also show they arent skimping but including an elbow pad even though theyve put taker in his coat. The tat work, is phenomenal and the height/scale is another huge benefit. This figure is AWESOME. And just for fun, heres a leather painted WHC around his waist: Thanks for looking. Next time round with any luck i hope to have some basics 2 or even bourne. I'll finish this with a pic of my mattels so far:

Great photos.
One question: What did you do the Elite Rey to get his shirt to be "flush" to the body...mine is kinda just hanging there with both flaps flat.
Also, if you have a difficult time securing a Basic 2 Kane, I would be more then happy to send you one for cost.

Lift his arms then hold the ends of the shirt under his arms by his sides then put the arms down to hold the cloth in. Hopefully that makes sense. I am having difficulty finding any series 2 but i'll see how i go first, surely they'll come here soon. I should be able to get the basic stuff just need a 1/1000 x2.

Excellent reviews mate! While I agree with most of your points...I don't think the RA29 Edge scan is bad at all...in fact I'd argue its one of Jakks overall better scans as far as accuracy goes. Of course it's nothing compared to the last Edge scan they made.
Elite Punk is an awesome figure...his torso is perfect in look, but too narrow. Punk is a well-rounded guy who's pretty much the same "width" all the way when you look at him from the front. I think Mattel just made his Elite figure too narrow. The details are great though, and it was an attire I always wanted Jakks to make him in.
I honestly think I need to get the Elite MVP. Every time I look at it, I like it more. It's just a very well done figure.

The scan had a very odd shape to it plus could have done with a better paint job. It just seemed a bit awkward in person compared to the proto in my view. But then again RA29 Edge was a complete step down in person. I agree with Punk. Jakks torso never fit because much like jericho, punk had a fairly straight torso shape rather than the V. The elite did a good job at this even though its a tad narrow. If it had slightly more width around the abdomen area of the joints it'd be even better. As for MVP, i really recommend him. I wasnt inending to get him initially but did and you really cant complain, its just all round nicely done. The chains are a nice touch too.

I kinda figured that's what you did, but I wanted to make sure that wasn't some "trick" I wasn't aware of.

Great reviews. Might have to pick up that Undertaker for myself. I got CM Punk, but I personally wasn't a big fan of the Elite series. Not sure why.

Wow, great pics. The review was "short and sweet". The pics really do all the talking. Ive got MVP,Punk, and Rey. I think I may hold off on Edge and Taker. I want better attire or just an Edge in anything but all black.

I take back everything I've said about Mattel. These figures are amazing. I saw them for the first time today in person and was amazed! I couldn't buy them though because they weren't in the 'til yet and the Flex Force were £9.99 each so I'm predicting their going to extremely expensive Love love love, Mvp & Punk! Rey looks good in person too.

Swapped the Heitage Edge head onto the Elite Edge and I gotta say it looks better.
