AJ has had the same look/style/character since his days in Wildside, he needs to change after all these years Actually, not really. He went from the biker shorts to the long pants, grew chest/facial hair. So, he has changed since his days in Wildside Boy do I miss those biker shorts  |

sounds a whole lot like big poppa pump/petey angle so i wouldn't be into it. The only difference was Steiner isn't a legend like Flair and Petey was never going to be a main eventer. how can you say steiner isn't a legend when he was one of the biggest parts of wcw and people will always remember who the steiner brothers are so i must say i disagree |

So if this is wrong, we're supposed to think AJ changed it, when it's not really in the plans at all. It's just assumptions. I'm sure if they wanted a Flair clone, they would just have him manage Anderson. AJ will stay the way he is, he's booked as the first AJ Styles with the best wrestler ever managing him, not the next Ric Flair.

This will enhance AJ's character. Like Silent Jay said, it will make his departure from Flair much better. I can't wait to see this storyline unravel. I think it's genius on whoever is booking this angle, since it is without a doubt going to piss TNA's "loyal" fan base. Which is what it's supposed to do seeing as how AJ is a heel.

Let me ask you something, if you went up to 100 people and ask them who AJ Styles is maybe 10 would know, if you ask the same 100 people who Ric Flair is I bet you almost all of them will know. This is a formula that has always and will always work. It's what made Flair get over back in the day when he stole the Nature Boy name and started copying Buddy Rogers that led into there feud and Flair going over making people say hey this guy is something. AJ can do the same thing here, let him copy the moves, copy the look then make them into his own. You think of Nature Boy today you think of Ric Flair not Buddy Rogers, the same can be done for AJ. Plus AJ is not getting any younger, he can use a change of style, I mean you guys will be pissed if he stops doing all his high spots, but the man has to worry about his future, and keep shortening his career by doing the stuff he was doing at 21. All in all this gimmick is giving AJ something fresh, and may keep him around for a few extra years. |
