Observation of the night.
One side was colorful in attitude and appearance and the other looked embittered, bland and gray.

Unemployed! Unemployed! Unemployed! I love this guy. Sat there for a year and didn't do anything. Stimulas bill? We gonna get another one now? What was the point of the first if it just sat there. Yeah, let's pass a bill that is suppose to boast the economy and not put the money down for at least a year from now. Intelligent. My favorite part was not when he said unemployment is at 10% cause it's at least 16-17 (not counting part time, giver-uprs, and fed extension people). Nope...not that, but when he said the recession is over and we've seen the worse. I'm sorry buddy ole pal but it isn't. It's gonna get bad.

You say he didn't do anything and then mention the stimulus bill. So he obviously did something. The first one saved or created 1-2 million jobs. government numbers, they should listen to an experienced economist like yourself when saying what the unemployment number is.

Its great to here obama is going to do more with nuclear energy. i hope he can deliver all that he is planning. All this will take him more than 1 term.
I always hated how every time he said a sentence all the democrats stood up and clapped. I'm glad Obama won last night we would have had to listen to John McCain say my friends before every sentance.....

I mean, they do such a great job with the money we give them; so why not give them more money!? Perhaps -- just perhaps -- we rethink our education system and actually do something that makes sense. Our current education system is a joke and it's not because of lack of funding - it's because of the dumbass people in charge.

Maybe... and this is a long shot but just maybe public education is a joke because anyone who is truly talented enough to be teacher has other talents that they can get paid more elsewhere. I don't know, but is it possible that dumbass people who are in charge of the education system are there because the qualified people say " this, I'll make twice as much managing a Chipotle!"

I don't know about any other state but the University of California system (considered one of the "best" public education systems in the U.S) is utter bullshit. Our tuition went up 33% over the course of one year due to budget cuts by the state. It's ridiculous.

I don't know, but is it possible that dumbass people who are in charge of the education system are there because the qualified people say " this, I'll make twice as much managing a Chipotle!" That might have something to do with it. The problem, however, is that given the teachers' unions and the general consensus that "this is the way we do things," the best teachers don't get paid any more than the worst teachers. If there was some sort of barometer that they used to determine the effect a teacher is having on a classroom; that would be an intelligent way to pay the teachers... Or at least give them some sort of a bonus.

Maybe we shouldn't have teachers teach to the test so we can have some actual good teachers.

Our tuition went up 33% over the course of one year due to budget cuts by the state. It's ridiculous. This is another major problem. There's no way that it should cost as much as it does to go to college. State schools are bad, but tech schools are completely out of control with their costs. As someone who is a college graduate, I can confidently say that I didn't get anywhere NEAR the education that I should have gotten for the amount of money I paid. Thankfully, I already basically knew everything that my school was teaching (graphic design). My parents even told me while I was in school, "You just need to get that piece of paper that says you went to school." That just seems so ass-backwards to me. The schools are not held anywhere near as accountable as they should be for the blatant mismanagement of funds and under performance that they pass off as a "great education."
