we're at the end of January here....Mattel has had a pretty strong lunch of WWE product, with more ssemingly coming every week ,and Elite 2 hitting now,and PPV 2 just around the corner...
but seemingly lost in the shuffle was Basic Series 1 ! now i know, obviously, they did come out as many of us found them...but based upon findings and hauls and such, what did make it out seemed to be somewhat limited ,selling out quickly and not being restocked, usually replaced with WM Heritage, or hell,a lot of Wal-Mart's NEVER even put series 1 on the pegs, and went right to Series 2 ....i myself only saw Series 1 once,at a K-Mart,and when i went back to get Bourne, all were gone...and every WM within 40 miles driving distance of me never put any on the pegs, but Series 2 is hitting in force...
i guess i wonder if this has kinda become the forgotten line, quickly snubbed and skipped over ...i know part of the porblem is having the same inventory number as WM Heritage and Series 2, but ,i mean, new stuff is hitting every other week it seems, and Basic Series 1 is in danger of being lost to time,as newer product takes it's place, and probably cases of basic 1 will gather dust in warehouses all over...

Mattel distribution is VERY different from Jakks. Mattel figures hit quickly, sell out, and are often non-replenished. That is why collecting Mattel's DC Comics line is such a pain.
Since Mattel is planning to release a Basic line every single month, it makes sense that the quantities of each series are limited. If you don't buy figures in the first few weeks they are available, don't expect that you'll definitely be able to find them at retail again later.

My local Walmart got only Basic 1, WM Heritage and Flex Force. Got all of Basic one no problem. Now I am having trouble finding Elite Rey.

I was able to find all the basic figure in stores within 2 weeks. Guess i just got lucky. Already got Henry from series 2, hoping the rest of series 2 is easy pickings. Really need Rey!

I like the fact its not as easy to find all figures - its made the element of collecting fun again. Personally I am only collecting the 1/1000 figures but if the figure series are made in limited quantities and once that series has passed its too late as they won't be produced again that will make collecting mattel even more fun for me personally as the challenge of hunting figures down increases.

I had no trouble finding Series 1 or Heritage Series 1 although I only found the repaint wave once. I just hope they release more of the future Series in 6-Packs like the Series 1 at TRU. But that is why I had wanted to know during the chat if they planned on doing refresher cases like they do with DCUC. Of course that question didn't get asked, but a question about how to remove Edge's jacket made the cut.

I agree Basic one did just get lost in the shuffle. There will be chances to get series one again as repaints but it seemed like all the stores here got one shipment in before WM Heritage and Basic two showed up.
As for Edge's coat, I was expecting a solid piece of plastic from all the complaining. I found it very easy to take off, it was getting it back on that took me effort. I am now a fan of plastic jackets for figures.

There's 3 Targets I hit regularly and only 1 had Basic Series 1 the other 2 had Heritage. The Spring Valley Target restocked Series 1 four times I know this, because I picked up the 1/1000 Big Show for board members on 4 occasions and never had anything else. Then the Target across the highway (Palisades Center) never had Series 1, but restocked with the Heritage set 5 times (All had a 1/1000 Austin in it) The Monroe NY Target had Heritage Series 1 twice and that was it. The area TRU only had Series 1 a couple times and now have Series 2. They never had the Heritage or repaints.

If it wasn't for the TRU 6-packs, I still be searching for half of Series 1. I'm a little worried as time goes on that this line will become as shoddily distributed as the rest of Mattel's stuff.

I only saw the series 1 one time throughout all my searching, and I am sure glad I picked it up when I did. I have yet to see any series 2 yet though, so that might mean I will see some more series 1 again, or might just jump to series 2, but I know one thing, when I see them I am grabbing them.

I found Basic Series 1 with no problems. I never saw them in Walmart but I have seen them in TRU & Target. In fact my TRU just restocked them on Friday. They sold almost all 8 rows and now they are completely full again.
The only thing I still have not seen in a single store is the Signature Series.

Hey, I just thought I'd tell you that I have an extra Bourne, still MOC if you need it. I bought the extra one to hopefully get signed, but it turns out I can't go to the show in February that I planned to. No BS, just cost plus shipping and it's all yours.
