Every week, i read reports of raw and i always read after the cameras went off/show went off air.
I was wondering how do you know the show has finished, do you get told the show has finished or something else?

The red light on the hard camera turns off. And trust me, it just has a different feel once the cameras are off.

nah, but you can usually tell. I honestly thought they didn't cut last night until Bret left.
Pretty what happened to me is Cena came out to fight off Batista. Bret walked to the back and Justin Roberts introduced the next match as the Main Event of the evening(Cena/Sheamus for the WWE Title).

When you see Randy Orton doing "Suck it" chops to try not to get beat up by DX, you know cameras are off :X

usually at the end there is kind of a pause where guys r kinda like walking around ringside or rolling around on the floor. thats wat it was like the times I went. wen i went to smackdown it was kind of confusing cuz after rey mysterio made batista lose the beat the clock challenge vicky guerrero came right out and announced a street fight between rey and batista for the #1 contender. fortunately ahead of time i read that the street fight would be the post show dark match. plus about 6 guys interfered in the match which wouldnt normally happen.

After the main event, lol. If you aren't sure check your watch. If its past the time the show was scheduled to end, use common logic and you'll figure it out.

I haven't been to RAW, but I know with SmackDown tapings, and I'm sure it's the same with RAW, usually after a lull period and either an authority figure comes out or a Superstar comes out and a Referee is in the ring ready to go.

You can feel it when they go off air. If they keep showing the "main event" up next, on TV, then that is the main event for TV and after that, you get a live exclusive last main event. BTW, the cameras DO NOT turn off, they just go off air, because the dark matches are on the tron as well.

It's a different atmosphere when it's off the air. You'll know trust me. If you can't tell set a alarm on your phone until 11:10 and anything past then they should be off air.

What happens during the ads with entrances? Say Orton comes out, ad break and he's still in the ring. What happens during the break?

I think he just stands in the ring whilst his music plays

when the show is over completely, Justin Roberts will say "Ladies and Gentlemen on behalf of World Wrestling Entertainment, we'd like to thank you for coming out here tonight. We hope to see you again soon." He will then thank your city.
That is when the show is over.

The first and only time I've been to Raw, the titantron turned off after the main event.

During the actual show, you don't always know when they're on a break. Sometimes they'll go to commercial during someone's entrance. Or sometimes, someone (like Jericho) will make their entrance, start cutting a promo, then they'll finish talking and their music starts back and their opponent enters. You later find out that they cut to commercial while they were talking and cut back for the other entrance.
They also do goofy stuff during breaks like showing signs throughout the arena on the Titantron while Todd Grisham or somebody makes comments about them. Sometimes a they bring out a t-shirt cannon and shoot some freebies to the crowd. But usually they just show video packages for Wrestlemania or Tribute to the Troops or whatever the next PPV is.
