I wouldn't say greatest, but he was pretty damn great. Reagan or Clinton? Clinton. But let's not get sidetracked this post is about Reagen. We should be talking about his accomplishments and his greatness.

Wasnt he the first pres. to write his own pres. adress? I'm sure back in Jefferson's day they didn't have a speech writer. He was a great speech giver. And here's when the Challenger disaster happened.

He did some good things, he seemed candid and wanted to do the right thing for the most part which is a huge part of being a president, but there's a lot of bad, some of which were still feeling the wrath from that came from his presidency.
I didn't vote because there's not enough options there, it's not as simple as "great" and greatest", especailly when I've read many artices from esteemed historians and anyalysts that thinks he's one of the worst(not my opinion, just saying). Too many arm sells and invlovement in the Middle East and Central America among many other things(ignoring the aids epidemic) that leaves a sour taste in my mouth, not to mention I think the whole cold war thing was over sold at the time he took office(it was much worse in the 50's and 60's).

I really only found two reasons to dislike the man and AIDS was one of them. The other being a trickle down economy. Should be a bottom up deal not top down.

My love of Reagan is well-known.
However, I'll stop short of calling him the greatest, but I don't think anyone since I was born (Ford was President) was better. I won't pretend he was perfect, because he wasn't, but what Quanthor said about his intentions were true.
Honestly, it's hard to hold AIDS against him. At the time, so little was known about it, that most people during the time were scared to death of it, and anyone who had it. I know my thoughts on it are sure different now than then, because we know more. The stuff that passed for AIDS education back then would make you cringe now. It's not Reagan's fault that we didn't know much, and the entire world was paranoid of it.

Definitely great, maybe just short of greatest.
In regards to the video posted above, I remember as Bush was preparing to leave office, someone on the radio was discussing the importance of quality speech delivery in the time of national crisis, and that speech came into play, heavily contrasted against this - GWB's post 9/11 address. Self written or not, it's certainly a testament to Reagan's ability to connect with the nation when their fears are uprooted.

Reagan was a successfully Hollywood actor before he got into politics. That's the main source of his ability to connect with people. You don't see a good actor who can't connect with people. I grew up during the Reagan era and I think he was a fine President. It's easy for people who didn't grow up in the 80s to look back and bash Reagan for his response to AIDS, but honestly, we knew jack squat about it back then.

I voted greatest, but really he, Kennedy and Clinton are all about even. Kennedy's care during the Cuban Missle Crisis...how well he handled that situation, and at such a young age was amazing. I'm always in awe the more I read about it. Reagan and Clinton, both of them had great accomplishments that I won't rehas as they are all listed above, but really...any one of those three could be considered the greatest President.

He was good for big business. He didn't exactly help the working class, but he didn't hurt them either.
I think Truman was the best, though.

I put great. I think Clinton was the best. How is Clinton the best? What the hell did he do other than get a blow job in the oval office? I think Reagan is definitely one of the greatest.
