Dustin Rhodes is expected to take on a persona in TNA like the Goldust character without using the name for obvious reasons. One ring name being tossed out internally is "Platinum." TNA started getting the storyline going with a promo on iMPACT! last night.

Platinum was the name he was supposed to come back under in WCW i beleive after his 7even gimmick failed which i thought was cool. I'd like to see Dustin split from personality to personality each week, never knowing who you're gonna get

I could actually see this working! I just hope they don't piss off WWE in the process. An angry Vince and his legal dept. are not something I want to see TNA with!

Why not GolDustin? Or is that too similar to Goldust?

I'd rather TNA give him a new name and gimmick unique to TNA over a cheap variation of his WWE ringname with the same old gimmick. This is what TNA should be doing... reinventing the characters of guys that were well-established in other major promotions. Remember... Diesel and Razor Ramon didn't join WCW as Gasoline and Raymond Razors. They joined as the Outsiders: Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. WCW's identity was established because they took established guys and put a WCW-style spin on their characters and made them bigger than they were before. TNA has to do the same with the big name guys they bring in, otherwise they are just leeching off other promotions' ideas.

No one gives a rip about Goldust anymore so why have a rehashed version. Like I said, let him come out each week with a different personality. Give us some historical vignesttes with how Dustin grew up and how he was in and out of treatment for personality disorders. Keep him Dustin, no outfit change unless it matches up with the character for that week. or if you're gonna have him platinum, make him a dark alter ego of Goldust...sivler clothes and face paint outlined in black...silver hair...give him a twisted unstable side ;D

Platinumpowder?
I don't like this, because he bounces back and forth between WWE and TNA so often, it was funny one week seeing Goldust, the next week seeing Dustin, etc...

Just bring him in as Dustin Rhodes, and use that split personality / crazy gimmick. His promo on thursday was awesome, and I hope he doesn't ruin it by running around in a silver goldust outfit.

More importantly, they took wrestlers who competed under gimmicked names in WWF and marketed them under their real names, creating the illusion that WCW was real and WWF was all gimmicky fake crap.
