"According to a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the talk in WWE right now is that the company has no interest in renewing a lot of the legends marketing contracts when they will start expiring this year."
Not to worry... I am sure they can still make a HBK, Undertaker, HHH series over and over again...
"Thats...Mattel for ya"....i guess?

They still had to be signed by Jakks, if they weren't in the WWE.
So all Mattel has to do is sign these people.

Mattel is doing WWE line by making figures of...WWE "contract-less" people! So lets say they will make a Steamboat figure and then put a WWE sticker on it...Vince wont notice! Now seriously, that would only happen if Mattel could do a different line of Wrestling figures which WWE doesnt allow. Jakks contract with TNA does allow that as they already have a contract with NWA and TNA, and as far as the story goes TNA has nothing to do with NWA nowadays...

I just want Bret Hart, Yokozuna, some good 93-97 Shawn Michaels, and some purple gloved Takers. New Generation FTW!

He can even not be one of the legends that WWE is going to drop.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the people Jakks made were under no contract to WWE unless it was something to do with licensing and sales of the wrestlers likeness. Let's not forget the figures of Kevin Nash that were made while he was in TNA.

Im sure the toy company has to sign a contract/agreement with the superstar and thats it. Its just WWE would have to approve the proposed figures.

To the original poster: All your doing is once again trying to rip on Mattel. If you look carefully, CAREFULLY, at your original post, it actually doesn't say anything about Mattel, it says 'WWE has no interest...' I'm pretty sure Mattel doesn't have much say over what the WWE does. Go back to your Jakks board, this is like the 2842729th time you've tried to make your case against Mattel. YOU don't like it, we understand that and respect your decision, however, your not the shepherd of any flock here. Nobody is going to hear your word and say: "Oh, you know, Mattel does suck, bye guys." Like I've said before, I like Jakks, and Mattel. I don't like immaturity.

If I'm not mistaken, a lot of the guys like Bruno Sammartino, Warrior, Honky Tonk Man, etc. did not have a Legends contract. In fact, I'd venture to say that the majority of the wrestlers in the Classic Superstars line did not have the contract. They don't have to have a Legends contract to have a figure. However, there's also the case of Randy Savage, who certainly did not have the contract, was approached by Jakks and close to making a deal before WWE decided to veto it. I've heard from various sources that a large portion of wrestlers turned down the Legends contracts because it basically prevented them from taking indy bookings.

The one thing I don't get is...
"the talk in WWE right now is that the company has no interest in renewing a lot of the legends marketing contracts when they will start expiring this year."
Then you say, "That's Mattel for ya...I guess"
I don't understand how Mattel has any fault in this? Where does it say Mattel has no interest in renewing the contracts? Sounds to me that WWE has made a business decision that Mattel has very little feedback in. So can you explain, What is the point of the statement "That's Mattel for ya...I guess."?

Also the wording of that doesn't say there won't be a legends line all it says is the WWE has no intrest is resigning a lot of the legends contracts. So it could just mean they don't want to resign certain legends.

Doesn't bother me too much either. I have enough Jakks' Classics to last me a lifetime. Sure they were cool, but I can move on. I think the trade off is great. Mattel figures( but no classics) beats Jakks figures (with classics) any day of the week.

I don't like immaturity. 1-WWE not having contracts with some legends CAN and WILL have influence, one way or another, on which classic figures can be released by mattel. 2-Not once in this Forum i have said people not to buy mattel and buy jakks instead. I dont work for jakks, and the less people buy the easier it is to find their figures. 3- Even if I had said such a thing i am free to say whatever i want as long as the mods allow it. And since you are not one you are not the right person to tell me what i should say or not. 4-You are welcome to post at "my Jakks thread" as you call it whenever you want. This is a forum the more the people talk the best. And thats why im part of it...cause i like reading what other people have to say. 5- "Thats mattel for ya" was obviously a joke concerning the limitations that the future classic MAY have due to this issue. The same expression was used for Jakks countless times and i never saw anyone complaining about it. I wouldnt... 6- If you have spent a ton of cash on Mattel and you are frustated by some reason about it....its not my fault so that kind of agressive speech is indeed immature. Spend a bit more maybe you will feel better. 7-I dont rip on mattel line. I dont like it, i dont buy it. And i think the information i provided was indeed of interest to all that collect Mattel. 8-Since i dont bark at people that dont have the same opinion i do i dont think i am the immature here...

The tone of your original post DID sound as trolling or stirring things up. WWE has no interest, so saying "that's Mattel for ya" is just plain bull$#1+! I think Mattel has a legends line: WrestleMania Heritage. I don't see why legends still with the company won't be made? My guess: we will see Steamboat, Hart, even Snuka or Slaughter.
