I like Demian and all, but this is not a very intriguing fight to me. Either Demian is going to get blasted while getting sloppy in the stand-up; or this is going to be a repeat of Anderson-vs-Thales. Demian's only chance is if Anderson has developed ring rust, or comes in too cocky.

I'm not excited about this fight at all. Normally I'd like to go off about how Dan Henderson should be getting a title shot & that this is karma because Belfort didn't deserve it in the first place, but I don't wanna be a total douche.

Yes, this has already been posted on the previous thread.
But, I think this could be interesting IF and ONLY IF Maia can get him down.

You'd better go out and get Demian Maia a "Get Well Soon" card because he's gonna need all the sympathy he can get after this one is said and done.

I don't see Maia getting this to the ground unless Silva slips, or gets cocky and puts himself in a bad spot.
And if Silva doesn't go to the mat, Maia's got two choices: Go down quickly like James Irvin, or run like Kalib Starnes.
(And yes, I know the Starnes fight wasn't against Silva.)

The ONLY chance Maia has is the ground game. Otherwise RIP

A confident Chael is a good Chael. I'm unsure if Chael would beat Anderson.
Some people have said that Anderson has shown some weakness in defending takedowns, like in his fight against Travis Lutter. Two points against that idea: One, that fight happened years ago; and two, Anderson has since improved. Exhibit A: His fight against Dan Henderson.
To calculate Chael's odds against Anderson, a consideration about Anderson's fight with Hendo should be considered.
Would Chael defeat Hendo? Probably not. Hendo's wrestling may be somewhat better than Chael's--but Hendo's standing striking is much better than anything Chael has shown in the WEC or UFC. Hendo would probably TKO Chael in a late second round victory.
Anderson deftly beat Hendo. Chael would probably lose to Hendo. So, logic would say Chael would lose to Anderson. But, then again, this is MMA, and anything can happen. Gotta love that 'X' factor.
And Demian Maia will soundly lose to Anderson Silva. The only way Maia wins is if he pulls out a surprise Flying scissor heel hook. I say Anderson allows the fight to proceed to the second round 'cause Maia's a fellow Brazillian, and finishes Maia early in the second round by punch-to-the-face (KO).

Its already been declared that just because one fighter beats someone who beat their next opponent does not mean they will beat them too.. Look at it like this... Ryo Chonan beat Anderson Silva... and Phil Baroni beat Ryo Chonan... So that means Phil Baroni would destroy Anderson Silva right?!?! haha NO

NYdream and Kliquid, I agree. Hence why I included "But, then again, this is MMA, and anything can happen. Gotta love that 'X' factor." Anything can happen. Most everyone has a puncher's chance. I'd love to see Maia pull guard and beat Anderson by doing so. The odds are definitely against Maia, though.

Heres what I learned today in MMAth:
Anderson Silva lost to Ryo Chonan Chonan lost to Dan Henderson Henderson lost to Wanderlei Silva Silva lost to Vitor Belfort Vitor Belfort lost to Kazushi Sakuraba Sakuraba lost to Kimo Kimo lost to Paul Varelans Paul Varelans lost to Tank Abbott Tank lost to Kimbo
So technically Kimbo > Anderson Silva.

I don't even think that it has much to do with it being a "puncher's chance."
I think it's that specific styles are often the problem for fighters. For example, a lot of the big-name stand-up fighters have problems with guys who are high-level wrestlers; because the wrestlers can get in there and just completely neutralize their best asset.
Another good example of this would be a fight like Tim Sylvia vs. Jeff Monson. If Monson wasn't so short, he probably would've destroyed Sylvia. But because Sylvia is just a giant, it neutralized Monson's ability to do anything on the ground and Sylvia got the boring, decision victory by doing practically nothing.
