You have to spin the crapout of the right stick to break out of submissions and also get the person to tap.
This year it doesn't matter how much energy your opponite has but how much you have when you throw a submission on.

Anyone else find themselves doing this for about 5 friggin' minutes whenever you click on anything online related? It's really making me just want to take the game out all together.

I really can't believe how much THQ messed up with the online this year.
I mean did they not see how many people played this game last year and did they not think of how many people would be buying this game this time around?
If they don't clear some of this stuff up soon even though I am really enjoying the game I may have to bring it back until they fix everything.

Dude I can't even get past the Start Menu. Same here man. I found myself just sitting there, wating for "connecting" to go away, with my rage increasing with each passing minute". They need to sort this online out FAST. It takes forever to get it started, and when you do, it's WAY too complicating to get any type of match started.

After reading the past few pages... I'm so glad I didn't buy this game. Ditto, I just dropped $60 on Red Dead Redemption and really wasn't too impressed with the demo, there is no need for me to get this game right now.

I was in the same boat but thanks to some decent trade ins, ended up getting UFC for only $11. The problem now is that that game hasn't proven to be worth the eleven Washingtons I spent on it.

The only submission problem I had was against Machida where he went for a Kimura 3 times in a row, I escape the first two but tap instantly for the third.

The game is going to take a little getting use to with as many changes as have been made. I am getting better and getting out of submissions and have just stopped trying to tap anyone else out. Haven't tried career mode much yet but hopefully after a time or two I will be able to figure out the best way to keep my stats up.
Has anyone had any luck with the codes to get the unlockable fighters I got three codes from the guide and only the one for BJ Penn in black trunks works for me the one for Shaq and the Tapout guys don't.

i have never been so fustrated playing a game before the stat decay thing is pissing me off every time i build something up something else goes down everything BUT my standing punch offense and defense is at 0!! I was beating the shyt outta my 2nd opponent and in the 3rd im all green and he's basically red and he STILL knocks me out with one punch!!
And the challenges in ultimate fights at least the submission one are damn near impossible to beat because no matter how much you beat the cpu ass he still wont submit they went from being fun and enjoyable to being a chore.... The only fun part about this game to so far is the event mode other than that i cant think of anything else ....And i also hate the fact i have to wait 50 minutes before i can press start to play the game smh

For those who need help with Career Mode just do what I did, while your still an am learn some of the good moves in camp invites that will get you more points in sparring and then it will be easier to get the stats to 30 so they don't drop to zero, once you get the stats to 30, 50 and 70 they will quit dropping below that. www.ufcundisputed.com/forums/topic/162527

For anyone that is stuck at the "connecting" screen, press O. It will take you to the main menu.
As far as everything else in the game, the only issue I am finding is actually finishing a submission. I can initiate, change between them, control the clinch against the cage and standing up, posture up and transition, sway, counter punch, and get my knees to the face on.
As far as submissions go, the system is completely different for those that haven't done the tutorial. There is two different ways to complete a submission. The first is the standard spinning of the right stick CLOCKWISE.
The second is called "Charging". Instead of spinning the right stick, you press down on it (R3). Basically, the longer you hold it down, the longer it charges. As you charge, you'll notice your Stamina bar lowers at a much rapid rate.
The purpose of this feature is so you can Charge an attack, and when you let go of R3, your fighter makes one STRONG attempt at finishing the submission. This works best for those with submission skills. It seems like this feature is the reason people are getting submitted so quickly. The other person is charging the submisssion, letting go and making One strong attempt at the submission, which apparently does the job.
Personally, I've been submitted a few times, but out of my own fault for getting in that position. I do know that you can use the Charge feature when defending against a submission. I think the issue is getting the timing down on offense and defense.

Oh wow I had no idea bout the "charging" system, I'll have to go through the tutorial and learn about that. Thanks a bunch for the tips.

As far as the clinch game goes, its a system of where you want to go, up or down. First off, pressing forward on the right stick will start a clinch, or L1/LB plus right stick for a head clinch. After you are clinched up, you can use the left stick to move around, away or towards the cage if you like. From a regular Clinch, if you roll the right stick DOWN and to the Right or Left, you will move to an advantage position for a slam. If you move the right stick UP and to the Right or Left, you will move into an advantage position for attacking the head/knee strikes. Now, in all 3 positions (Regular, DOWN+right/left, UP+right/left) you can stike with knees and at least one of your arms, depending on the situation. If you find yourself in a disadvantage postion, its just like the ground game. Moving the right stick to get to a position you want. The more you keep working either up or down, the further you get in the clinch. Once you have a full Two Hands Head Clinch, moving the right stick UPPER LEFT/RIGHT and then down, while pressing either of the Kick buttons, will allow you do knee in the face Muay Thai style knee to the face. Likewise, if you keep working down, and are ready to slam other other guy, moving the right stick BOTTOM LEFT/RIGHT will slam them, much like last year. Also, at any time when you have the Advantage position, you can do a takedown by using the usual Takedown controls. Same gameplan goes for when you are against the cage, except the positions look different and you can't go for a takedown. My personal preference is clinching up, and slamming if I'm near the middle of the octagon. If I am near the fence, I'll move them towards it, transition up to head clinch, and just uppercutting the out of whomever I'm fighting. To those Muay Thai fighers out there, the knees to the face are a little easier to pull off, but don't do as much damage if the other guy has good stamina.

How does he lock in the submission? IE From what position? most of them were kimora's....it wouldn't bother me, but it was like, 2 min into the 1st round and i was still green one time I got submitted because he put 3 straight on me and the third one I couldn't get out of Is it this hard to submit people? or just the computer? on the bright side, i was able to reverse 2 transitions, which i had never done i have quite the love hate relationship with this game...i hate that it frustrates the crap out of me, but I do love to play it..
