Wat if David Von Erich vever passed away??? I think he would have been NWA World Champion for sure, how many times, who knows. From wat i watched and heard he died from some stoach diesese or soemthing, but alot of others say he died from and od, not totally sure though
Wat if Kerry Von Erich didnt screw himself over and plageriaze adoctors note for pills??? Or what if he would have stuck to his booking for the WWF, Would he have had shot himself if he wasnt goin to go to prison??? if not What would his career been like???
Wat if Mike didnt od himself??? mid card status or more???
Wat if Chris didnt shoot himself, from wat ppl said if he had kept himself healthy he would have been the next Kerry
Wat if Kevin Von Erich would have stuck with wrestling, would he have gone anywhere in the buisness to great success??? or did the von erich name kill any chance of any of that??

Wat if you actually spelled Wat "WHAT"?
Wat if you used spell check?
Ok enough of that.
First off Chris was NEVER going to be the next Kerry. That's why he killed himself. He was never going to have that body or that talent. He had huge shoes to fill and his feet were far too small to do it.
David was already going to win the NWA World Title before he died. That was stated numerous times. David would have been a huge star. He had the total package when it came to wrestling.
Kerry if he didn't have his demons could have been huge in the WWF. I would say he could have had a run with the world title. I would have seen him go to WCW and then back to WWF kinda like Jeff Jarrett.
Mike would have been nothing because he didn't have much talent either.
Kevin would have been a solid mid-carder but wouldn't fit in with either WCW or WWE. I'd see him more so in Japan or something.
so yeah all that and please. Spell check!!!!!

David would have been World champion, but he great as he was, he was not the biggest star of the Von Erich's, that distinction went to Kerry & when Kerry got the strap it did not pan out. So IMO David would have been a World Champ maybe once or twice, but would have stepped aside for Kerry eventually.
Kerry IMO should have jumped to the WWF in 85, if he would have maybe he'd be an even bigger name than he is today. The thing with him is that he was an addict and he a person just does not wake up suicidal one day, he obviously had deep seeded problems that could have surfaced earlier, and given the fact that he was abusing drugs their is always the possibility of an accidental overdose, which is what I think killed David.
Mike was never really impressive, but was a solid mid-carder that could have gone on to a lengthy career but a World Championship was never going to be in the cards. It's a shame that he was pushed back into the ring.
Chris was not even jobber material, ring announcer, manager maybe, which is what led to him killing himself, low self-esteem and the realization that he would not live up to the family name inside the ring, but he sure could by taking his life outside of it. A shame.
Kevin is a guy whom I feel was worthy of a World Championship, and would have been champ if his brother was not Kerry Von Erich. By the time Kevin left the business their was no chance of him ever being a maineventer again, and just seeing him in the midcard of any fed other than WCCW would have just seemed wrong.

If they all could have/ would have stayed clean I think Kerry would have been the only one to REALLY make it. David would have gotten a run with the NWA title but probably not much more. Maybe picked up a few NWA tag titles with Kevin. While David was a great talent he was built much like Barry Windham but I think Windham had him beat just barely in talent department. It took Windham forever to be a world champion and main event guy. I can see David around a Windham level.
Kevin I really doubt would have done much. Outside of Tag titles or 6 man title reigns he probably would have gotten any higher then maybe the TV title. Like David, I doubt that he would jump ship to the much larger WWF but would probably have floated around JCP and WCW.
Kerry was the guy that really had the look. He would have gotten his run as the top dog in the NWA but much longer then what it actually was for. I feel if he was clean he would be one of the big babyfaces to take place after Magnum's car wreck. Kerry liked the celebrity style too so he would have def jumped ship to the WWF and spent time up there. I could only assume that he would have been an upper midcarder most of the time but had a much better run sober then he really did.
Chris and Mike would have never made it. They might have been hired and used for help around the studio but they wouldnt have been anything big. Those two boys just didnt have it.
Unlike what many people would say, if the Von Erich family would have lived I really dont think we would be watching WCCW right now. Dallas was big for them and much like JCP I think if they started going to unusual places it would have caused doom for them. If WCCW would have stayed in Texas and JCP in the south who know what could have happened

That's not really fair. He replied earnestly, he just asked for you to spellcheck. That's not like asking you to take English classes. Anyways, from what I've seen from David, and its only a few matches, I'll agree with the above Barry Windham comparison. He was bound to be a star, but he was never going to be a Dusty Rhodes. Kerry, on the other, remains one of my favorites. Luckily, I haven't seen too much of him ed up. One of the best looks wrestling has ever seen, and when he was sober, he was godly in the ring. Shame he couldn't control himself more, he would've easily been a multi-time World Champion. The rest of the brothers have never been main event potential, although Kevin wasn't a slouch by any means in the ring. He had a great dropkick, and he wrestled barefoot!

Some of the things written in this thread are pretty offensive. David Von Erich being compared to Windham? David had soooooo much more charisma and personality than Windham. Not taking anything from Windham at all, he was great in his own way. Comparing him to David is just wrong.
David Von Erich was going to become a HUGE star in professional wrestling, who knows where he could and would have taken WCCW. Im 100 percent convinced if David would have lived, WCCW would have lived. Maybe even to this day. WCCW was the first company to do alot of things that are commonplace now, alot of things that made wrestling mainstream.
But Davids death and Fritz's refusal to go national killed WCCW.
So please before comparing David to guy like Windam, take a look at his greatness.

While I don't agree with the comparison as far as predicting a limited title run for David, I don't think that the comparison with Windham is that far off. Windham was an amazing worker with a lot of appeal. I think two things limited his career as far as a title run: first, I think his heel turn hurt him because he just didn't have the same charisma as a heel; and second, his title push kept being held up by factors like the WCW people wanting to book Luger as the champ. Even if you give David the edge in charisma, Windham had a better 80's face look, and for the purposes of comparison, we'll call their ring work even. I think you're unfairly underrating Windham the way you're accusing others of underrating David Von Erich.
I don't know what would've happened if the Von Erich family hadn't had so many tragedies. Certainly NWA title runs for David and Kerry (though, with his no-shows and personal problems, Kerry's run may have ended up the same). If WCCW was still going strong and the family was all together, I don't know if any of them would have jumped to the WWF.
I really liked Kevin as well. I don't think he would've fit in the cartoon world of the WWF, but he would've been a hell of an addition to the NWA/WCW.
As for the survival of WCCW, it really depends on smart business management. I don't think national vs. local is the crucial question, but how you spend the money that you're making. You can stay in a single territory and still overspend, or misspend, your money. I don't know if the territorial companies were prepared when wrestling became big business.

^ I see where your coming from Magnum. Im not belittling the talent of Windham at all though, i thought he was really good in his time. I simply just don't see how he measures up to David though. David had a BIG edge in the charisma department, was more believable, and had more momentum at one point in time than Windham ever had. Barry was a great piece of talent, But David would have been the top babyface in the world had he lived imo. The Von Erich's popularity was only growing in the early 80s, even outside of Texas! So im not taking away from any of the greats, just disputing comparisions to the '' Yellow Rose''. Yes Kevin was also amazing, and probably the most entertaining of all the brothers in the ring. He was a ing flyer! I don't think Fritz would have ever run into serious bussiness/$ problems, he had too many intelligent guys in his camp. Gary Hart and Ken Mantell etc.

I don't see how anyone can say they're offended by David being compared to Windham. Barry was by far one of the top young draws in wrestling in the 80s. Windham was a name in the WWF, Florida and in Charlotte/Atlanta. He had above average mic work, amazing ring skills and like Magnum said above, he had the 80s babyface look. The key factor why people don't think the Von Erichs, mainly David and Kerry, would not be big draws is because outside of their hometown....they didn't draw. The Von Erichs never packed Greensboro Coliseum, they didn't load the Kiel Center. They didn't put a crowd in the Super Dome for a big event. WCCW and the Von Erichs HAD to stay in the Dallas area because that's where they drew. They were territorial names. Almost everyone out of WCCW went somewhere else and drew. Garvin, Freebirds, Warrior, Jack....they all went out and drew elsewhere.
Nobody can take away the fact that David was a great athlete, a terrific wrestler but he wasnt going to be the all amazing wrestler that some blindly assume he would be. None of the Von Erichs had the draw or charisma of Flair. None of them were going to take his place throughout the 80s as the NWAs top guy. Flair, Dusty, Barry and Magnum outshined the Von Erichs on every level. Not only that, they did it around the united states if not the globe. The Von Erichs shined in Texas.

I have watched both major documentarys on WCCW and have listened to a few of Flairs shoot interviews where he talks about the Von Erich's drawing power. He went in to detail, saying that David was gaining a tremendous national following before his death. It is common knowledge that Harley Race and alot of other NWA big wigs were grooming David to be '' the man'' . He would have been so much bigger than Windham, hell i'd go as far to say that Windham wouldn't have amounted to as much as he did, had David lived. The Von Erich's drew outside of Texas. Thats a fact that can easily be proved, it has come out of the mouth of many.

Show me where its written somewhere, any online site or video clip that it shows the Von Erichs selling out a large arena or building outside of Texas. Texas Stadium is a huge draw, but it was in their back yard. Show me where one of them were at the top of the card and they put butts in the seats of a stadium like Tokyo Dome, Greensboro, Orange Bowl, or MSG. Its one thing to be centered in a central location (North, South, East, West) but to basically never leave the city keeps them territorial to me. Its been said that WCCW was being broadcast throughout the united states on television, they why didnt it work? JCP was on TBS, WWF was on TV they both went over with the television audience. Ill never take away from their talent and Ill never say David wasnt a future world champion but if David had lived and still had his "run" that papa Fritz wanted he still wouldnt have been a top 10 name in the 80s

You don't think the Von Erich's ever left Texas? You are aware that they wrestled all over the south and sold out building right? Not just Texas. Most notably they did well in Georgia. David especially was a hot commodity in Japan, where he died. Yea he was a big deal over there.

Id love to see footage of them somewhere other then Texas. It honestly would be a first. I know David won the Missouri HW Title but thats really not that big of a deal IMO. Ive never even seen them in Georgia so this would be a first.
