Yeah, I mentioned in one of the other threads that I can't believe how much Wanderlei has changed. He looks like a totally different person.
If I didn't know that he had surgery and you showed me what he looks like now and told me that was Wanderlei Silva, I wouldn't believe you.
I like the old Wandy MUCH, MUCH better. He looked like a friggin' animal before. It's too bad he'll never look that way again. It was very unique.

Agreed, I just watched the count down show for tonight and to my surprise Wandy looked like his old self even after the surgery for the most part as he was talking about the months off from the octogan due to the surgery so now Im thinking why the hell does he look way different now then. Im thinking that its the combination of the surgery and his huge weight cut for tonight. He said he has never cut this much before and when they showed him speak more recently you could see the change because he was training hard to drop weight. He looks like he's way younger but I can't believe the pics from the weigh in. I really didn't know it was him until I saw the new Wand tattoo on his shoulder. |

There's definitely a huge difference, but I think it wasn't just the scar tissue, I remember reading or hearing somewhere that he had work done on his nose because he wasn't sleeping correctly. I'm almost 100% sure Wand must have been having problems with sleep apnea, that's one of the telltale signs (inner-nose constriction resulting in reduced airflow resulting in gradually worsening sleeping patterns).
He looks wildly different to me, but I really don't mind it.

He kind of looks like a grizzled, Brazilian version of Josh Burkman in that first "after" pic.
People joked about his looks before the surgery, but he actually looks kind of worse now. I understand why he did it though, so it's not that big of a deal. Still a big fan of his regardless.

Wow, I'm really glad he got it then. That's definitely severe sleep apnea. I myself have sleep apnea, but it's nowhere near that drastic. Looks or no looks, I'm glad he got that taken care of. |

If you add cornrows and a sports bra, he's not that far from looking like Cris Cyborg. Which is more of a knock on Cyborg than Wanderlei. And no, I wouldn't say it to either of their faces.  |

I know he looks a lot different but I think people are forgetting that on top of surgery the guy cut down 20 pounds. I don't think the change looks that significant on television. But in pictures yes it is quite a big difference.

Axe Murderer by FAR! Guy was awesome in Pride but is getting a little older so I know hes not at that peak in his career anymore. But my lord does he look different. He looks kinda cracked out with the scar tissue removed to be honest.
