I've never been able to find a picture of it or even a mention of it anywhere but there was a mail away version of the series one Hasbro Hogan that said "Hulkamania" on the shirt instead of "Hulk Rules" I had this figure when I was a kid and I noticed after a while that everyone else's had a different print on the shirt but at the time it meant nothing to me as I was 10 years old. I got the figure by sending away for the offer with the first Hulk Hogan video quite a while before any other Hasbro figures got released, the figure took months to arrive though by which time I had got some Hasbros in shops. I've read many times on the internet that this mail away was the same as the Series one figure but mine was definately different. I often lay awake at night cursing myself for selling it at a boot sale for 20p so I'm hoping someone here can tell me that it's not as rare as I think it is. I'm pretty sure it had "Hulkamania" in yellow on the headband aswell but I'm not positive but I am 100% positive that the shirt had a "Hulkamania" in red. Does anyone here have this figure?

That's very interesting. I'd never heard of it. I always believed the original mailaway was just the same as the carded series 1 figure, like you wrote.
I would suspect that, now that you mention it, we'll see at least one or two pop up for sale on ebay soon. "Rare mailaway" Hasbros seem to be a favorite of customizer trying to pass them off as "rare originals" lately, since they're so easy to fake.

Sorry but I've never heard of this version. Even the early Hasbro catalog's pic had the "Hulk Rules" on it; and that was the prototype figure.
Stomwijf, can we get your 2 cents please ?
Were you possibly thinking of the LJN Hogan ? I know that both the red shirt and white shirt LJNs had "Hulkamanian" on them.

I know that most of the mail aways were the regular Hulk Rules version because all the websites that talk about say it was just the normal Series 1 figure. I really am not lying nor am I mistaken, I was hugely into wrestling figures as a kid, I used to watch tapes of Prime Time Wrestling over and over and pause it when there was a good shot of the Hasbro ring and figures and I wanted some wrestling figures so bad that I may well have been one of the first people to send off for the figure. I have loads of the Hulk Rules version now and it still looks like "everyone else's" Hulk Hogan figure to this day as I played with my Hasbros all day everyday for the 2 or 3 years that I collected and I still remember every little scratch, weak movement and defect of all my 47 figures even though I sold them 13 years ago. I got back into collecting Hasbro figures a couple of years ago and at that time I started looking on the internet to find out more about them which is when I realised that not all of the mail aways were the same as the one I had. I've been kicking myself for the last 2 years for selling it and I thought it was time to ask if anyone else knew about it, I was hoping that at least someone else would have it so I wouldn't feel quite so gutted about not having it anymore but apparantly it was quite rare. I'm going to sift through some old family albums just incase there is a picture of it somewhere but it's a long shot but I promise you all it did exist.

I had no idea what a custom was then and I very much doubt any customs had been made by the time the first series of Hasbros was released in the UK and if there were then I wouldn't expect Silver Vision to send one out for a mail away offer. As I said before it was no big deal when I was a kid but I always knew that my Hogan figure was different to my cousin's and all my friends'. I can't begin to explain how much I regret selling it and I know that no one has to believe me but when I read how much some people here knew about Hasbro WWF figures I thought I would finally mention it to people who might be interested as I know for a fact that I had that figure. People make up rubbish on message boards to fool people but I have no reason to do that and I haven't ever done that but I understand that probably no one believes me or thinks I made a mistake or had an LJN figure without noticing but my only reason for posting this was because I wanted someone to say that there were loads of them in existence so then I wouldn't have felt so constantly gutted about selling it.

Plasticsuperstar:
I am locking this post as I am sure it will lead to further a "no pics, no proof" debat.
Unfortunately nobody here has heard of or seen the variant figure that you claim to have owned once. I will re-open this post if you can back up your story.
