The more I think about it, the more I feel WWF really dropped the ball on this match. I mean am I the only one whom feels this would have been the Steamboat/Savage Match of WrestleMania X-8?
Kane would have easily been matched with another heel (Test comes to mind). Thus Angle would have been free to wrestle Hennig.

well, as much as i love hennig, by the time he was midway through his wcw run his general health/ability had really decreased. he looked good in 02 when he returned but i think in a lot of ways the damage was done.
nevertheless, i'm sure it still would've been fantastic. seems vince was not that heavy on pushing hennig as anything more than a bit of nostalgia.

I agree with this, his return at the Royal Rumble '02 was great (one of the last three) and I would have loved to see him in a match against Angle at WM X-8, even though he was past the prime of his career.

I don't think it would have been that great because henig hadn't wrestled a classic match in years bc of his back. Now Angle v Perfect in his prime would have been a match for the ages. Can you imagine how good a Hart vs Perfect vs Angle match for the world title would have been if all 3 were in their primes.

It would have been big, but because of the problems he had, I doubt it would have been as big as Savage/Steamboat.

It really pisses me off how Perfect's final run with the WWE was handled. He always rose to the top no matter what, you damn well better believe if he was given the stage to perform, he would have come through with a classic with Angle.
He was obviously healthy enough to nail a perfectplex on The Bigshow....Complete lack of respect however, that he kicked out on a 1 count.

Just saw that match via the link you provided, thanks for that, and yes, that was a shame, given the 'structure' of that match...

Kurt Angle vs Mr. Perfect Kane vs Kevin Nash should have happend So true. How easy would it have been to havethese two match? Hell did we really need a music performance by Saliva DURING the event? I remember a lot of people attending were pissed off or annoyed at the very least about the music performance during the event. Plus Lance Storm could have FINALLY wrestled at a WrestleMania

It's highly unfortunate we never got to see Angle/Perfect. The only interaction they ever had was a short brawl in the Royal Rumble 2002. Heres a screencap.

I followed the Henning boy coming up in the old AWA.He was from good stock with Larry the Axe tutoring him.He was awesome when he held that companys tag belts with Scott Hall. What a wrecking crew that was.I was out in Vegas one occasion and was at The Showboat Pavillion where the matches were taped. He did some terrific sequences aganist the then champion Nick Bockwinkle.Sad to see him leave the way he did.

I think it would've been awesome, but like already mentioned I feel Vince just brought him back nostalgia and nothing more.

I meant their small encounter in the Rumble as a whole.

I feel this was a missed opportunity as well. For reasons stated above, it probably wouldn't have been great, but it likely would have been better (and more meaningful) than the throwaway Angle vs Kane nonsense.
The build-up could have had Kurt trying to replicate those old Mr Perfect vignettes with the basketball and so on. Angle was always hilarious at that sort of thing.

I think Nash wasn't given a match at WrestleMania because WWE feared Scott Hall might possible have to drop out of his match against Austin for one reason or another.
