I'm horrible with TSC, and the game is better played IMO with classic controls. If they don't like it, they shouldn't play.
I do have to comment on someone's post above. I don't have internet, so I can't play online or download anything at the moment, but I'm still having a great time with this game. While the career mode may be short, I find it's a pretty good at "burning" the gameplay mechanics into your brain.
Plus I'm just taking my time getting used to the gameplay differences. I'm getting sharper at my strikes. I ended up introducing my buddy Brandon to the game last night, and he has already said he thinks it's better than UFC. He's pretty good at the ground game, so that was a fun challenge, but I outstruck him every time. He's also getting good at submissions, so I'll have to sharpen up on that to stay in the game.
He actually bested me with the first true Knockout that we have experienced.

I didn't get to play at all yesterday, I had school and then spent the night downtown with the lady, but I'm about to get back into the game. I'm 19-7-0 in Career right now, and I'm going into my 3rd defense of the DREAM *cough* excuse me, MYSTIC Welterweight Title.

Brandon was getting cocky last night after two consecutive submission wins, so after we touched gloves, I cracked him with a left, right, left, clinch, knee, which lead to him falling to the canvas as I smothered him with kicks to the face.
He showed more respect after that. Felt like I knocked him down a peg.

Yeah, I was playing some guy yeasterday. Total takedown spammer. He had me in full mount and rolling over and back for about 8 full minutes (vale tudo rules of course) and he just could not finish me. Not by choke, armbar or punches. So I finally goad him into using enough stamina to get get him off of me, and the first chance I got I threw a huge flying knee followed by an uppercut, and then swarms of heavy shots. By far my most gratifying win online.
So after words I get a message from this guy saying that I cheated and needed to learn the TPC. He then said "I know it may be hard for you and your other n*gger homies to learn."
I also had some guy with a super CAF tko me because he threw a cheap shot when I tried to touch gloves. From now on, I'm not touch ing gloves if they don't have their's up to do the same directly after the bell.

My bud is a total takedown guy as well, so I had to get better at defending quick. One thing I'd love to get down is some kind uppercut for when they come in to take me down.

Unfortunately it does seem like some of the spammers and cheap players have begun to creep into online. I had a string of really ugly losses today that I really don't believe were my fault, and I'm positive that's not the 'ol ego talking because I've never been this angry before and I lost like fourteen times before today.
Ah well, it had to happen. I'll probably be dividing my time equally between New Vegas, this game, and Gothic 4.
The honeymoon may be over, but this is still a great game.

Some of the little touches I love about this game:
The ring announcer/ref/championship design are all tied to whatever rule set you choose. You fight under Japanese rules in the Union Square Arena in the UK? Still get the crazy PRIDE lady ring intros and Mystic title design. Very cool.
I also LOVE the commentary. I can think of at least two specific instances where the match I was playing was recognized on commentary: Play Couture vs. Fedor and Mauro says "they said it would never happen, they were wrong...." and goes on to acknowledge it is the dream matchup. The other time was when I played Fedor vs. Werdum it was mentioned by Mauro that Werdum had upset Fedor and such.
Love the little details like that, and I'm still having a blast with this game!

The douchebags have definitely made their presence known in this game. Just went three rounds with a guy with a Super CAF that did nothing but spam parry, gotta love it. ing hell, it's like these ers live and breathe on finding the best way to cheat the system just so they can get higher in the rankings.

Most def man. I had a HORRIBLE day of online gaming today with this game. Remember what you said about using classic Bas? Well I refuse to have this awesome online game ruined by leaderboard jockeys. I;m going to just make a couple of super CAFs myself to even the playing field.

You basically can put the difficulty on Easy, get an A in everything, and then coast and coast as you keep simulating the training exercises. It's also very long, I still haven't completed it and I'm more than thirty fights in. So you're pretty much guaranteed a maxed-out character if you just have enough time to spare.

I finished my first career with my character based on me, Ian Scherer, as a BJJ specialist at 170. I started in the RFL, then signed with League De Combate. I took the road less traveled and signed with MYSTIC instead of Strikeforce. Had an awesome time playing through. I am a little bummed about Career, though. I am not a fan of these set paths that UFC and EA MMA have laid out for us. I preferred the FNR4 Career where I could choose my own opponent and decide when I wanted to fight. If I want to take a few months, maybe a year off to work on my skills, god dammit, let me do it. I finished at 31-9. I blew my opportunity for the Fight of the Century, super bumming. It's alright, though. I started a new career as a guy I created named "The Closer" Jack Rivero at heavyweight. I'm currently 4-0.
I tried online for the first time today. I had a blast. I'm currently 6-1. I won my first five fights straight as Classic Ken Shamrock. 3 of those 5 were against Classic Control punch spammers. I took them down and tapped them. I tapped the other two opponents as well, who I appreciate and added to my friends list for having fun fights against.
I earned my shot at the Title. Mind you, I'm 5-0 at this point. My opponent was 92-85. Holy crap. Who even has that much time? This game is basically new! Anyway, I had a great fight with him. He was playing as Bas Rutten. He rocked me, I took him down. He got up. I rocked him, dropped him. He recovered. We got stood up because I couldn't advance my position. We were striking a bit, and I was planning a take down. I thought, "Alright, leg kick, jab, jab, then I'm shooting." I threw the kick, the first jab, then on my second jab, WHAM. He head kicked me and knocked me out cold, stiff as a board.
We both had mics on and we were laughing. I was pissed, going "AGH! You bastard! I had you in trouble twice! You son of a bitch!" He was rolling. It was great.
Positive experiences = I'm happy.

I don't understand all the hate for Classic Controls online. It's just a scapegoat for guys who lose to strikes. There's a way to defend punch spammers, and it isn't hard to do.

Unfortunately it looks like I'll be taking a break from this game's online until they issue some kind of patch, I'm sick and tired of losing out to Super CAFs. If anyone wants to play for fun without all the cheating and the exploits and the douchebaggery, hit me up, gamertag is the same as my username.

I don't understand all the hate for Classic Controls online. It's just a scapegoat for guys who lose to strikes. There's a way to defend punch spammers, and it isn't hard to do. The fact is they can do something that non-spammers cannot, and when person A has a weapon that person B doesn't, that makes an unfair fight. You're automatically at a disadvantage. My only loss is to a guy using the legit (TSC) scheme, so I can't complain. I do wish I could change my settings to fight only TSC users, though. The fights are more fun and look like real fights. If I wanted a storm of fists until some one falls 1 minute into round 1, I wouldn't have sold UFC '10. Moving on, I'm 10-1 online now and I have a the Lightheavyweight Title at 205. I use Classic Ken Shamrock and Classic Bas Rutten. Randy Couture is my boy, but I love me some knee-bars.

I'm 29-1 online now.
I've won the Heavyweight, Lightheavyweight, Middleweight, and I'm working on the Welterweight Title. Lightweight is next. I'm a Trophy hunter, and EA MMA seems like an obtainable Platinum on something I really enjoying playing, so I'm all for it.

I've been knocked off my high horse a little bit.
Got decisioned in an awesome fight, the best, most competitive fight I have had. No complaints, TSC user, added him as a friend. Lost another decision, too. No complaints, same gimmick.
Got knocked out by a button user. Lame.
34-4.

Okay, now I'm bothered. I went from 29-1 to 33-7 because of these ing button mashers and their UFC controls. It's ruining the fun and strategy of this game.

I don't play online at all but they should tell you what kind of striking control they use before picking them to fight.
