UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) – UFC Light Heavyweight contender, Matt “The Hammer” Hamill has signed to return to battle in the nationally televised final of The Ultimate Fighter season 11 this June. Hamill’s opponent will be “The Dean of Mean”, Keith Jardine.
This will be Matt Hamill’s first fight since his disqualification win over Jon Jones. That fight, the main event of the finale of The Ultimate Fighter season 10 last December, was stopped when Hamill could not continue due to cuts. It was ruled that the cuts were inflicted by illegal blows and, as a result, Jones was disqualified. Hamill also suffered an injured shoulder in that fight, but has recovered and has resumed training.
Matt is from Loveland, Ohio, but lives and trains in the Utica area. His trainer is Duff Holmes, of the Mohawk Valley Mixed Martial Arts & Fitness in Washington Mills.
Hamill has a 9-2-0 record in the UFC, against some of the best 205 pound fighters in MMA.
Jardine is one of the best known fighters in the UFC. He has a 14-8-1 overall MMA record, with wins over UFC legends Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell.
Hamill v Jardine is scheduled as a headliner in the finale of The Ultimate Fighter season 11, on June 11th at the Palms Resort & Casino, Las Vegas. Matt Hamill was part of the cast of the TV reality series The Ultimate Fighter season 3. It launched his UFC career. Season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter begins on Wednesday, March 31st.

I'm kind of stoked for this fight, it should be a good one.

I'm saying if Jardine looses this one, he'll be cut.

I look at this as an interesting mix for a fight. I hope Hamill pulls it out.

I'm kind of surprised Jardine is being given another chance, but good for him. I have no faith in him winning though.

Matt Hamill is my boy, I hope we beats Jardines a$$. Hamill and I went to the same college and he comes to Rochester and visits often. I am excited for this fight but at the same time don't want to see Jardine leave the UFC which will likely happen if he loses. Hamill needs a good win after that Jones fight and the DQ win. I know Matt wasn't happy about it at all.

Not a huge fan of either, but Hamill is a true grinder. I see him getting the win over Jardine, then Jardine being cut.

Man! I like both these guys so it's going to be tough to pick a winner. I'd say Jardine needs it a little more as he's lost a lot lately and Hamill although was beat up bad agains Jones still won because of the DQ.

Jardine was never really good to begin with.

Jardine was never really good to begin with. I agree. Hamill's gonna grind him to dust, and send him packing.

I'm from Cincinnati, about 10 minutes from where from Matt Hamill was from, so I've gotta root for my boy
