WWE CEO/chairman Vince McMahon granted a rare interview this week, with Acorn Newspapers in Connecticut, talking about WrestleMania 26, possibly wrestling his last match on Sunday, and TNA bringing their programming to Monday nights on Spike TV. McMahon said he doesn't view TNA as competition and blasted the promotion for drawing "a fraction of the audience" compared to WWE Raw and the heavy amount of blood featured on Impact. “We’re in different businesses. We're in the entertainment business and they’re in the ‘pro wrasslin’ business," McMahon said, with a flashback to his take on WCW. "It’s different markets. When they moved to Monday nights, they threw the kitchen sink at us and only did a fraction of our audience. It doesn’t speak well for the type of product they're trying to present with the tawdry, blood-soaked action. I don’t think that’s what the culture wants these days." credit: pwtorch ------------------------------------------------------------------- personally I dont mind the blood ;D

Wrong Vince. Pro wrestling/WWE is never going to be accepted by main stream America. Its always going to remain the bastard child. Attempting to cater to familes isnt gonna change that.

Eh, he had to find a legitamate reason to say why they fail instead of going "Neener, you guys suck, we still got the ratings"

Wow, he dropped the "sports" and just said "entertainment". Very ironic considering that garbage they air on Monday (not Tuesday and Friday, which is good most of the time) is anything but entertaining.

Just so you actually know the reason Vince Mcmahon turned it into "Sports Entertainment" was because of the taxes, State Commisions, etc coming down their throats at each show. When they announce that it's "Sports Entertainment", the Athletic Commisions aren't involved and the taxes are lower.

vince is right to say they're going for different markets, he should've just not bothered to talk about them other than that.
