Hey guys just wondering, what your thoughts are on Lex when he was with the E'? I personally thought that he deserved a title run as I thought he was over with the crowd (the american made one). I ask your opinion because Bret Hart claims that Luger was never really over with the crowd and me being young when Lex was doing the whole "Lex express" and all that thought he was over. But obviously, I didn't see what I saw in wrestling now. I also ask because it seems at times on the board I've seen him bashed.
So whats your opinion? Was Lex good for a title run in the E'? Was he really over with the crowd?

if Luger was gonna win it he should have done it at Summerslam 93.with the build that match got I was baffled at the finish.
Luger was over at that time.no doubt.
but loads of wrestlers have said that he had to get good noise piped in for him in early 94 through the end.

Sting vs Hogan at Starrcade '97 & Luger vs Yoko at Summerslam '93, had 2 of the biggest match build ups ever and both matches never had the pay off ending they deserved. Dunno how the bookers could botch the endings to both, but did.

I was always more of a fan of Narcissist Lex Luger then the American Made one. Luger just always plays a douche bag better

I prefered the USA Lex Lugar! He was Hogan's replacement to me. But in a different way.

i think he was more effective as a challenger. i think it would be easier to get behind him on his quest for the gold rather support him as the champ and the head of the company.

They could have rolled with the Narcissist character for much longer and created some interesting feuds with the top faces of that era. I hated the All American character at the time, and thought it really cheapened the Lex's image.

I agree with most of you,He should have won the title at SummerSlam 93,or stayed Narcissist. He should have faced Hart at mania. We never even got that big Luger vs Borga match at a ppv.Instead we got a fued with Tatanka,Bundy& BamBam.last A brief team called the allied powers!

Luger was massively over due to the whole slamming Yoko on the air craft carrier and then doing the Lex Express. They missed out on something big. He could have been the "american patriot" before Kurt Angle.
While he was nothing special in the ring, Luger had a connection with the crowd. Young, old, male or female. Everyone had a reason to cheer for Lex.

He was really over, but not as over as Bret was back in 93. Bret had a lot of pity over what happened at WM9, and Luger lost out because of it. That being said, him not winning at Summerslam killed him.

Maybe if he didn't tell that reporter that he was going to win the belt at Mania, he would have won it.

The way they celebrated his victory at SummerSlam made you forget he won by countout. He really should have defeated Yoko for the belt at the time and defend it against Bret Hart, that would have made a memorable main event at WM10.
