So yeah, Kanyon lives in my area (Sunnyside, Queens, NY) and a friend of mine alerted me he passed away due to OD on Pills. Medical Examiners just left there. My friend doesn;t  around which is why im posting it here as i trust him, im sure this will reported soon. If its not, ill take the responsibility of it but like i said, he had no reason to lie about it. |

I certainly hope this is false. As much fun as people poke at him, the man was a true innovator, and had a ridiculous amount of talent.

Seriously, if this is true, it's a real shame. Back when I was training, I was on the ring crew at a show. After we set up the ring, we started drilling and running spots with the guys. In walks Kanyon, and this was right after he left WWE, so he was the main draw. He makes his rounds, shaking hands, etc and before I can jump out of the ring to go meet him, he introduces himself to me. Nothing fancy, just "Hi, I'm Chris, nice to meet you." This really stood out to me, since the last encounter I'd had with a former WWE talent was with Animal, who shook my hand, but didn't even look at me, then pushed past me. I was a big nobody to him, and usually even local guys didn't go out of their way to say hi to the students, but Kanyon was a very nice, down to Earth guy.
If it's true, it's a really sad day for wrestling. RIP Mortis

His last Myspace login was April 1st. He also retired in 2007, was it? In 2006 he announced he was gay. If it's an overdose, I wonder why and what from.

Jeez I sure hope he hasn't died, he was full of talent and a friend of mine hung out with him a few times and he seemed like a cool guy. Keep us updated if you find anything out.

I don't think he was really gay. He was playing it up as part of a gimmick when he first "came out", so I don't trust him on that.

Hope this isn't true. I've always been a big fan and he's one of the main eventers in my EWR game. It's a shame he got injured during his whole 'Alliance MVP' angle and never got another real chance.

FWIW I searched 'Kanyon' on twitter and there were two messages from two hours ago saying 'RIP Kanyon' both by girls and not just some wrestling nerd wearing a mask. Damn this sucks.
