The woman aint insane, infact she is extremely intelligent... how much fame and notoriety do you think she's have in the modern music world if she was just another brick in the wall? (yes, a floyd reference) This. The woman's a marketing genius, and I think she injected a much needed boost into pop music. I'm on the polar opposite side of the planet as far as her music and me liking go...we couldn't be further apart. You know what though? I know the lyrics to most of her songs. That's why she works. Hell, if I could parade around in dumb outfits and sing catchy songs for the money she's making, I'd do it in a flash. ...and I would look DAMN good in those outfits so you shut your mouths!

She also does lip syncing. Her performances suck, as well as her lyrics. She didn't even come up with her own name. Rob Fusari did, and he got it from Queen's song Radio Ga-Ga. Pretty much one of the most overrated musicians ever in music. She also tells people " You don't have to have sex to feel good about yoruself " yet she was stripping at the age of 18.. People only enjoy her because of the way she dresses and more than half don't understand music anyways, nor care enough about it to really understand the musicians.. This is all of which I believe she sucks. She wins. But also, no she doesn't lip-sync. There's many videos of her actually singing at shows, a nice example is her SNL performance. Does she possibly use auto correction during every single show? Yes. But so does every single country artist, big deal at this point. I like how you bought the Rob Fusari thing without bothering to read any other side of the issue. Are some of her looks stolen/borrowed? Sure. The last photo you used, outside of haircut, isn't even the same outfit wise. Also notice how her look as changed since those photos. She's really the first woman in pop music in the past 20 years who's on top and actually running her own career. At the least give her that.

^ I give her that. She's making money and on top. What's the other side to Rob's story? & of course her look changes, it changes every time you see her. First woman on top? Madonna is a great name to bring into the topic, which is also another person she copies..

I'm interested in hearing what it actually means to "understand music", in Oskanowski's terms.
FWIW, GaGa, Eminem, and a whole mess of others are represented in my iTunes collection. I have four recorded cd's worth of material under my belt - 3 DIY, one professional. I play (counts on fingers) six instruments as of May 2, 2010. I've studied both music theory and music history at a post secondary level, was part of my high school's concert band (as a section leader), marching band (as a section leader), and audition men's choir, along with my time spent as a member of a champion DCI drum and bugle corps.
I think, and I'm just taking a shot in the dark here, that I know at least a little bit about music.
Taking that, and the fact that I do, at least at the casual level, enjoy me some Lady GaGa, let's try and find another reason why "she sucks".

First off, I will say that I am not a fan of Lady GaGa. But that doesn't mean I hate her. I have no reason to hate her. I just simply don't listen to her music. Mainstream pop music is just not really my sector. Although I will say, I think she gets a lot of unwarranted flack from people, and she is a bit of a breath of fresh air in the sector of mainstream pop, after an entire decade dominated by generally pretty faces with little of anything else going for them. And yes, she does look kinda "weird", but really, who are any of us to call her "weird"?
With that said, the main thing I wanted to say, which I have no clue if anyone else has ever though... Does anyone else want to see a Lady GaGa/Morrissey collaboration?

This is one of the greatest rebuttal posts to Oskanowski I've ever heard. I swear if he comes back in with a "you all don't understand music" post that he's proven how much of a troll he is.

*facepalm* The lack of common knowledge of good music/hard working musicians in this topic is amazing. There's no such thing as a common knowledge of good music, its all opinion. Damn, just cause someone likes something that you don't, doent make that thing bad. Just makes your opinion bad.

And yet, she might just be more talented than Eminem. There's no might about it if you ask me. Gaga is the most talented artist in pop music today. She doesn't fit into the cookie cutter style, which is a plus. I'm looking forward to more music from her, as I'm very interested in seeing how she will grow as an artist. should be good though.

No Kurt Cobain couldn't be brought into this because he's an actual legendary talented musician. He didn't lip sing, plus his fashion was his own. He didn't have to copy past talent. lol, if you really want to compare Kurt Cobain to Lady Gaga... You seriously need some help and try figuring out music. To understand music you have to look further beyond just if the person is " OMGZ SEXY " or sounds like they have a good voice. Which most people don't do with Lady Gaga.. Can anyone even explain how she actually.. Has talent? I seriously doubt it. Like I've said, the only reason people enjoy her is for the beat in her songs & the way she dresses, and some think she's cute. That's nothing to do with actual talent. She's a copycat. Yet you people still count her as talent.. rofl. You people are actually saying she has more talent than someone like Eminem? ....Really now. You deserved to be beat in the head with sticks for even saying something so stupid. Eminem is a king of the genre he does, How many white rappers do you know that get looked upon by black rappers? No this isn't racist seeing how Hip Hop came up from black generations. Comments like that saying " Lady Gaga has more talent than Eminem " isn't an opinion, it's just strictly false. Eminem has been here longer and had way much more experience and time and talent than pretty much anyone ever will since Tupac & Biggie Smalls. The only one that has ever came close to knocking Eminem off was Lil Wayne. Give me a break. Call me a troll all you want, truth hurts.. Until Lady Gaga makes a song where she isn't stuttering ( PA PA PA PA POKER FACE ) & it actually sounds good and means something special, and quits dressing like mixtures of Madonna & Christina Aguilera. She's a copycat no talent.

The only one that has ever came close to knocking Eminem off was Lil Wayne. No. No one will be able to satisfyingly define why Lady GaGa has talent to you, when you put in a pre-qualifying measure negating her voice as a valid argument. Eminem is a rapper - his talent would be defined by a combination of his rhymes, his flow, and his beats. Lady GaGa is a pop singer - her talent is going to be defined on two measures - her voice, and her songwriting ability, when applicable (although Lady GaGa defies "common ground", it is not unusual for a pop singer to not have a hand in writing their material. GaGa, in fact, does). For someone who constantly belittles others for their lack of musical knowledge, you must know that one of the first givens in popular music is that it is subjective. What tickles SYE's fancy is not going to necessarily be what tickles Oskanowski's fancy. Now that I've broken down the barrier regarding looking beyond her voice, I will explain why I find Lady GaGa to be talented, and yes, it starts with her voice. Before I ever saw what Lady GaGa looked like, I was subjected to "Poker Face" by one of my sister-in-laws. Outside of the songs catchy hooks, I was impressed with her word play, and yes, her voice. She's got herself a vocal range that falls somewhere between a third register F# and a fourth register B. It's certainly not whistle register (a good example would be Mariah Carey), but that's ok, because I find that range unbearable, and prefer an upper alto, lower soprano for female singers. It's also fun music to dance to, and I fancy myself a dancer.

So.. You just look at an artist ONLY by the voice? So basically I'm right so far, she's a copy cat, has no talent, isn't any better than Eminem nor Madonna.

Never have been and you never will be. What you are is a giant dick that no one likes because you think you've got an ascended knowledge of music when 2 people now have proved that they know more of what they speak of than you do.

"Learn to read", I believe? Did I not just differentiate what is going to draw either praise or criticism of an artist's talent, based upon the genre they belong to, and the manner in which they are marketed? I'll use an example that could permeate your thick skull - would you hold Kurt Cobain to the same standards that define talent as Eminem?
