I completed a trade yesterday. I sent Vernon Wells OF, Barry Zito SP and Joakim Soria RP for Jayson Werth OF and Jimmy Rollins SS.
I do think I came up a little short on this trade. Werth and Wells are pretty much a swap. I like Werth more and think he provides a big bat with the ability to add steals, where Wells isnt gonna get as many steals. Werth also bats in a highly potent offense and is in a contract year playing for a contender.
Zito and Soria for Rollins however, leaves me on the short end. However, it does bolster my lineup. I really have NO short stop. I am starting Cliff Pennington from Oakland, after dropping Juan Uribe. I picked up Alex Gonazalez from Toronto who has been on a hot streak, but dont know enough about him to know if he can last all year. Rollins is a proven stud. Being on the DL now, seemed like the time to try and make this trade, as my partner seemed to be happy with his current starting SS.
My rotation is just pure studly and carries my team to the highest scoring team in the league and just 1 loss, leading the division. Doc, Johan, Tommy Hanson, Colby Lewis and Josh Johnson. On my bench I have Strasburg, who is getting closer and closer to a call up and J.A. Happ who is on the DL. I felt like I could spare a SP.
My relievers are Palpebon and Rauch from Minnesota. Happ also has RP eligibility, so I figured I could lose Soria, who is good but not great. My trade partner most definitely needed a closer.
Overall, I think this trade made my partner a better team......but I also think it made me a better team. Opinions?

Considering you're situation, Wells and Werth cancel each other out, and even thougn Zito is hot you have a pretty good staff, so it's a good trade.

That seems like a very good trade.
