They should let Kimbo have atleast two more fights before they decide to fire him he hasnt really had much of a chance to prove himself Oh, he's had LOTS of time to prove himself, it's just that he turns out to be a friggin' dud in the end. He got his ass kicked by Big Country on The Ultimate Fighter and was given a second chance to come back and redeem himself, but he turned that down. I think that may have rubbed Dana White the wrong way. Probably saying to him that Kimbo didn't want it bad enough. Then, he gives Kimbo another shot against Houston Alexander and it ended up being an atrocious fight where in the end both guys were GASSED beyond belief and Kimbo ended up with the decision. And finally, Dana throws Kimbo a HUGE "gimme" fight that he thought Kimbo would have no trouble in winning. I mean, the guys nickname is "Meathead" and he has a 1-0 record, so you would think a "legendary bad-ass street-fighter" like Kimbo would have no problems winning this one... Well, it turns out that Kimbo, once again, gassed out big time and got ing owned for the majority of the fight and once again, ended up getting finished. Long story short, between the time on The Ultimate Fighter and now, I'm sure Dana White had hoped Kimbo would've improved more than enough to get by a guy named "Meathead", but nope. "Meathead" schooled Kimbo, so Dana knew that if Kimbo couldn't get by a guy with a lousy 1-0 record, then what the hell good is he?? Dana can say all the nice things about Kimbo, but deep down, he knows how much Kimbo sucks at MMA, which is why he dumped his ass so soon. And I for one, am glad he made the decision to do so. your logic of kimbo losing to a guy with a 1-0 is just absurd. Didn't Brock start ufc with something like that? oh wait, he was actually 0-1. not comparing brock to "meat head" but it's a similar situation as no one expected Brock to get anywhere close to being a champ. just cause someone is 1-0, they're automatically poop cause they haven't fought enough to prove a position? And are you honestly gonna blame kimbo because Houston ran around the octagon like a ****? give me a ing break, jesus. Stop hating on Kimbo so much and give him a break, he wanted to try MMA so he entered TUF. He actually tried his ass off and didn't succeed. So why don't you give him credit like a man and let it be over, we all know he's hype but you're just being immature by bashing him every chance you get. Kimbo never said he was the best, he said he would do his best to become the best and as far as that goes there's nothing wrong with saying that.

Secondly... if I recall, Kimbo couldn't take his second chance, because his knee was shot. His knee is still shot - arthritis doesn't go away.

I remember a time where Old School stopped actively making these sort of long winded, strongly opinionated (for better or worse) posts. I miss those days.
I could understand the Kimbo hate back when he was making half a million to fight cans, and was being treated as royalty by lesser promotions. But now the guy put the effort into taking a legit shot at the big time. He tried, he failed, and he took it all like a man. What's the point in hating on that?
And I think Mitrione wasn't given enough credit going into this fight. It was an awful matchup for Kimbo, and not a "hand me out" like Old School seems to think.

wow I must be the only 1 that didnt see this coming, I thought Kimbo would have a great run in the UFC. His cardio might not be the best, but the guys a power house and has good striking, over all was improving good, not 2 mention he's a huge name I say they should have kept him around longer but oh well. I hope Strikeforce picks up on these 2 releases of Kimbo and Daley.

Good striking? Mitrione showed superior striking. I just honestly think it's the fact that Kimbo is just too old.

I don't think he really got a fair shake. He needs to drop down to LHW. If he wouldn't have had all that hype he wouldn't have been fired. He is super popular. And people pay money to watch Kimbo fight. He didn't look that bad against Meathead. Sure their are things he NEEDS to work on. But really so does Chuck Liddell, Keith Jardine, and others in the UFC that are 1 dimensional that still have their job.
Kimbo went 1-1 and got fired? To me that's pretty lame.

Record aside, I just think it's a crazy idea to cut him when you got such a potential money fight waiting to happen with him and Toney. I seriously don't get why Dana wouldn't milk Kimbo and James in that regard.

I'm glad he got cut, but at the same time, I'm not. Takanori Gomi didn't get cut and he lost his first fight in the UFC. I would have given Kimbo one more chance, maybe have him take some time off and re-evaluate his training.

He was definetly progressing.
I would have kept him for fight night fights. Kimbo is proven that Kimbo = ratings.

Honestly, who the hell was Kimbo going to beat? If he can beat a nobody like Mitrione, who else can he even be COMPETITIVE with in the UFC?

He was only there for ratings in the first place.
At least Dana gave him a shot to prove himself.
Sidenote: Anyone else find it crazy when Kimbo eye gouged Mitrione and the ref didn't say shiit?

I'm not surprised this guy got cut, he got beaten badly and with his age, I think he's done in mma.
