Wow, after watching UFC 113 i noticed such a mega difference in the respect between fighters. Daley, throwing the punch after the bell has been discussed enough but one point I wanted to make was Rua.
How good was Rua. He realised Machida was out cold and he pulled off, before the referee could stop in. I thought this was such a good thing to do as you don't usually see this. It usually takes the ref to pull the fighter off. It showed how experienced and controlled Shogun is and in my eyes made him deserve the championship that night. It made me proud to be a Rua fan.
Does anyone else like this sort of sportsmanship in MMA? or are we all fans of the 'Lesnar' UFC100 show and the aftermath of Ortiz and Shamrock?

I still don't see what Brock did as unsportsmanlike. It's not like he hit him or push anyone or anything. All he did was walk over to Frank and say something I'm sure a lot of people have wanted to say. Everything beyond that, was nothing but bad PR for UFC, to which Brock apologized and tried to make up for.
I did enjoy seeing Rua make that decision, as he could have very easily "Henderson"ed him.

If the ref wasn't there i'm sure after Brock said that he would of continued to beat Franks ass, as far a Rua goes, yea that made feel good about him being probably my favorite fighter however you shouldn't stop hitting til the ref pulls you off, we've seen fighter get screwd like that before.

Well if you're waiting on a guy like Mario Yamasaki, you might kill the guy in the meantime. Yves stepped in just in time, but I'm just saying. But if you know the guy's out, why not show some professional courtesy and not try to end his career. It's not hard to tell that a guy's out cold from the mount position. Hammering an unconsious guys face into the mat is animalistic.

I was speaking in tearms of a TKO, like when Rampage KTFO'ed Wandy and Wandy was clearly out and Rmapage kept hitting him, yea that was uncalled for, but when a TKO Don't stop. I shoud of clerified it more.

Yeah, I think it is a great show of sportsmanship. But to be fair, you are supposed to keep attacking until the ref pulls you off. So either way, they aren't breaking sportsmanship.

Rampage even kept hitting Wanderlei WHILE THE REF WAS GRABBING HIM. That was pretty terrible.
But, yes. Give Shogun his credit. Technically, a fighter should keep fighting until the ref jumps in and stops it. That's his job, and the ref has his job. You have to give it up for Shogun. He knew Machida was out and knew when to stop. The ref didn't even really NEED to be there, but you know. Shogun has always been classy though.

Shogun is just really respectful towards his challengers(except Coleman) and the sport and has a lot of heart, Rampage just wanted revenge and let anger take over, I think maybe after he loss the tittle Rampage lost his heart for fighting.

Might as well bring Hendo into this, since he straight out admitted that he got a cheap shot in after knocking the out of Bisping.

I think he just said that in the heat of the moment. Lots of fighters go after the guy after the KO.

I have more respect for Marquardt now (not that I didn't before, I just thought he was a tad boring) I'm all for more sportmanship like that, as well as stuff like at the end of Serra/Hughes at UFC98...really good to see.

Marquardt said it wasn't really a sportsman thing. He said he just didn't want to get caught in a submission after he saw Maia turn around.

Marquardt said it wasn't really a sportsman thing. He said he just didn't want to get caught in a submission after he saw Maia turn around. Really? I must have missed when he said that...The commentary from Rogan and Goldberg as it happened led me to believe that's why Marquardt pulled back...no worries then...
