Are you guys serious? Of course he is acutely aware of what is going on. The event is going to be in his home country and it is basically Bret's Canadian homecoming for the WWE. He keeps in character on his facebook, as well as updating real life events about what's going on. The crowd reaction for Bret in Toronto is going to be absolutely crazy and you better believe he knew he was scheduled for an appearance there well in advance.
Idk about you guys, but this is going to be one of the most exciting things to watch in a long time.

It's not supposed to enhance the storyline, just make it look like it was a total surprise and not planned making it seem more realistic.
