Having passed 1,000 days as WWE Champion, John Cena is the fifth longest reigning champion in history, trailing Bruno Sammartino (4,040 days), Hulk Hogan (2,185), Bob Backlund (2,138) and Pedro Morales (1,027).

He doesn't deserve that accomplishment. He doesn't deserve 9 world titles either. But as long as WWE are stuck up his crack, don't be surprised to see him reach 17.

Well he'll certainly pass Morales, but it'll be a LONG ways away to get passed Backlund

In a few years, that won't even be a significant feat. Edge has like ten, Triple H is at about thirteen, Cena's at nine, the days of individual long reigns are gone.

As much as I hate Cena, he's WWE's guy. He's loyal to the company, great with the fans. All the accolades he's gotten he deserves them.

Disgrace? I think not. He's the face of an entire era of pro wrestling. It makes sense for him to be up there with those guys.

He is to this decade what Hogan was in the 80's or what Austina and The Rock were in the late 90's. He is the face of this era like Hogan was in his, and Austin and The Rock were in theirs. Face facts.

He is speaking in terms of being the face of the company. Austin was easily the face of the company in the 90s like Hogan had been in the 80s.

I really don't mind Cena being the champ that long. He busts his ass for the company and they are repaying him for it. Like others have said like it or not he is THE guy in the company.

Good for him. I've noticed something, though while looking at some of the title histories. There are way too many guys that have had reigns that last less than a day. Orton, Kane ,Triple H, Cena, and Batista to name a few. But Cena definitely deserves this. He is their best worker and the fact that he never gets out of step is incredible too.

He moves more merchandise than anyone, he's probably the hardest working guy in the industry. Sometimes the blind hate around here gets absolutely absurd. You can dislike him as an entertainer, but there's no denying the fact that Cena has earned/deserved everything he's had come his way thus far in his career.

Because some people think he's the reason IWC favorite #1 or IWC favorite #2 is held down like he's the one saying "Don't let anyone take my spot." That's the bookers/writers who make Cena seems unstoppable, he's just playing his part well.

If the Writers toned down his Supeman powers, I'd like him more. I like him as an overall guy, but can't stand him during most Matches.

Hell, I'd be in favor of bringing in Bob Backlund and giving him a 50 day run just so he's number 2.

People complain about Cena and yet Hogan is number two? I'd much rather see Cena up there than Hulk, at least Cena is entertaining to an extent unlike Hogan.
