I've been offline for a while (my wife and I just had twins), and was surprised to see these protos when I came back to the board. I'm pretty happy to see evidence that this line is actually happening. As for the figures themselves, they aren't the greatest, but they're not terrible. I like the Sting, but as many have said, the straight faced scan doesn't really suit "surfer" Sting. It looks like the many cool Drago headed Sting customs I've seen, except for that ugly torso. I think he's straight faced because the DI TNA Sting is straight faced and these scans look to be re-tooled versions of those scans (even that Steiner). I also like the Hogan, but I probably won't bother with the rest unless I figure how to turn that Jarrett into one that fits in my display.
Overall, I'm happy we're getting these. I think most of the complaints are valid, though, and even though I'm old-school like benjames and those guys, I have always hated getting a toy that looks like the company didn't care. I'm not talking about little nitpicks, but major flaws or consistent screw-ups. As a kid, I hated LJNs because it was just ridiculous to make them that way. It's like the company is laughing at you while they sell you half-assed crap. I loved Remcos, because they were great toys for their time, but I also appreciate the innovation of a modern articulated toy like the UFC line. For me it's not just about imagination, but about doing the best you can. In this case, though, I'm sure it's a bit of a financial stretch for Jakks to even make this line. I'm resigned to a certain amount of cost-cutting (but they could still make better decisions using the parts they have).

I didn't realize accurate scale and full detail = "ugly". I guess some just prefer inferiority. But is it really THAT big of a deal if Evan Bourne is smaller then Randy Orton yet is still ripped enough to look like the incredible hulk? Mattels arent perfect, neither are Jakks. The thing that is so frustrating with Jakks is that they have the majority of the correct part molds made, they just choose not to use them properly. I can't for the life of me understand why they don't use the molds they have correctly. They really need to find someone in their design department who can actually look at the wrestler and look at their figure parts' inventory and see what matches up the best. Evan Bourne should have had the shorter kickers but they used the tall ones that made him look huge. But then they give RVD the short kickers instead of the tall ones that made him shorter than Rey Mysterio figures. I just don't get it. I think the majority of us here could pick better parts than Jakks' employees. Hey Jakks, I can give you suggestions on what parts to use and I'll even do it for free!!!

Despite the flaws, I'm really looking forward to this line. The way I see it, this has got to be a labor of love for somebody -- I don't see bean counters saying, "Let's make an NWA wrestling figure line -- that will make tons of money." So I'll appreciate the good figures we do get.

Thanks, Joker and PJ. Everything is going well, except for the lack of sleep and the fact that my wife won't let me decorate the boys' cribs by draping replica NWA tag team belts on them.

Are they your first? Don't worry they'll be getting into "your toys" soon enough. lol No, I've got an 8 year old son, too. I actually became a toy collector after checking out how cool his toys were (especially his super heroes). He stays out of my stuff, because we mostly have similar stuff (he even gets simplified versions of my NWA custom figs). While my wife nixed the tag belts thing, I did get original style Four Horsemen shirts for me and my three boys. I couldn't believe they had baby sizes. Just to keep this on topic, I can't wait to see an RA-styled surfer Sting in stores. I mean, I'll probably pre-order mine online, but I'll pick up the first one I see in stores too. I wonder what their store distribution will be like?

Congrats Magnum...good to see you back.
I really hope Jakks doesn't cheap out on these as much as I fear they will...It's going to be hard to collect complete sets if they do.

I am really looking forward to seeing the MOC pics of these. The more I look at that Jarrett, the more I am liking it. If that Sting comes with a jacket or robe, it will look amazing.
Not sure when the MOC pics will show up, but I am really wanting to see them.

I find it funny it took Jakks this long to make the "Ichiban" Hogan.
