The reportedly cursed Long Island home at the center of The Amityville Horror is up for sale.
According to the Associated Press, it hit the market on Monday and is going for a cool $1.15 million. The facade of this five-bedroom Dutch Colonial home - as many Amityville fans know - has been slightly altered so it doesn't resembled the house that forced the Lutz family out after a brief stay in the late '70s.
In 1975 six members of the DeFeo family were shot and killed as they slept in the home. Eldest son Ronald DeFeo Jr. was convicted of the murders.
Both the Lutz story and the DeFeo story served as the basis for The Amityville Horror and Amityville II: The Possession, respectively, although in the latter, the family was known as "Montelli" and not DeFeo.

if i had that kind of money i'd buy it 1 thing to say youd buy it, its another thing to say you'd live in it Given that the original owners basically made the whole thing up to get out of the house and it's not haunted, I'd buy it. I'd probably dress it up and rent it out to idiots who think the house is haunted or have tours of it for idiots who want to see a "haunted" house. |

I'd probably dress it up and rent it out to idiots who think the house is haunted or have tours of it for idiots who want to see a "haunted" house. Lol, that's exactly what I was thinking too. Although, there's no denying that the Defoe family massacre was kind of creepy. Whether the house is haunted or not, I can't say, but the fact that a man murdered his entire family and the gunshots were never heard is entirely true. |

The people selling the house have lived there for years now. It's not haunted.
