My votes are in.
Anyone heard anything from Raider?
I got a message from Elias apologising for the no show but it sounds like he's got a lot on his plate at the moment with family etc so I doubt he'll be back from his three strikes any time soon.
Shame.

So I know I am little behind on this, but everyone talking about how long their rp is, length doesn't mean the best quality. I am not looking forward to reading these massive rps since my attention span isn't the longest and most of them don't hold up all the way through.
There is such a thing as too long. 26 pages, too long.

I think the farthest that I have gone was 28 pages, and I think that was against Raider. Haha.

I have never written an rp more than 15 or 16 and that was my SB rp. I think both the ones I did at the previous ppv were 8 a piece or something.
I find people just go on too much when it is that long.

Just need to write one more ending and I'll turn in tomorrow/later today for sure. I will also begin to read that day as well.

I am not looking forward to reading these massive rps since my attention span isn't the longest and most of them don't hold up all the way through. There is such a thing as too long. 26 pages, too long. I completely agree on this to be honest, even though my PPV RP was quite long itself. I'd much rather people wrote shorter, more compacted and overall more interesting RPs than dragging out something (that could have been shorter) over "X" amount of pages just for that daunting "Oh Meh Gawd" factor. Like you say quality over quantity. I don't know how many pages mine was though because I write in textedit which just creates a basic text file, no pages involved. I do find the bragging tiresome though. "Look how long my penis is!" "Yes but can you make her quiver with it?"

I know that mine have been quite long recently, but I never go into it intending to write for a page count. I plan out what I think is crucial to the roleplay and then just write it, whatever the page count by the end is what it is. Take this rp for example, I actually cut a few scenes because they didn't bring anything unique to the piece. For me every scene that remained was either crucial to this piece or was needed to build to a few future ideas I have.
I don't see the problem in people writing long pieces as long as they're good. If a piece is long and is full of crap then basically they've just wasted their own time writing it.

My rps are always as long as they are when I can't write anymore.

I took a few courses in film making and script writing, and as such, I have adapted writing my roleplays like scripts. I put together a raw format sheet. Something that'd look like this:
Schneider goes to store, footnote on world hunger
_______________
scene with Meg, argument over Xbox
_______________
Percy match flashback to Schneider first title win
_______________
letter from Justin
_______________
Closing monologue
Then I just plug in the pieces. Often, things are written out of order, and just written in whatever order I feel like writing them, and as Meg can vouch, things often get an AD/HD feel to them in the writing process as scenes can vary from just 2-3 key lines as placeholders, to most of the roleplay missing a finish.. To a completed roleplay that starts at a random and unexplained point that needs a beginning. It's unorthodox at best but it seems to work for me

I use a pretty similar style in that I write out a plan that breaks down what each scene will be and what the main points of each scene is. A lot of stuff just comes out during the writing, but also like you I don't always write everything in chronological order, just which ever order I can be bothered with at that time.

I don't have a system. But seriously some of the things I have glanced over in the last two days in some people's rps tells me that they are too long. There is some stuff I just don't care about when it comes rps. I know everyone has their style which I am not going to knock on but I get the feeling that some people around here are just impressed with the size of rps instead of the quality.

Guys, I'm terribly sorry for not showing. Without going into detail, these past two weeks have been extremely tough on me personally and I couldn't bring myself to finishing my RP. I'm at such a pivotal point with my storylines, I didn't want to half-ass it, so I chose to not post. I also cannot be a judge this time. I will be back in full swing for the next show hopefully. I had always intended to take the show off around the end of July until it was revealed to be the PPV... little did I know of all the other things that were going on in my life would fall apart at the same time. I thought I could make it work and finish up everything in time but it just didn't happen. My apologies again.

My rp has the least amount of views, and absolutely no responses.
Was it really that bad?

I read it almost as soon as it was posted. I just don't reply to many roleplays because my replies usually come off way more negative than intended and people get butthurt. I was just going to reply with "congrats on winning SOTF" anyways.

I just found it amusing, especially since the next least read rp is ahead by a margin of 50 some-odd views.
"Match to win", indeed.

My rp has the least amount of views, and absolutely no responses. Was it really that bad? I'd have left a comment, but I think it'd be highly unfair of myself to leave you something that would've basically said, "I haven't been here in a while and I have no f*cking idea what's going on here" when there's clearly continuity through it and it tells a clear, concise story with a reoccurring theme of going through the curtain. You can clearly tell that it's Ace Bennett that you're facing, and that there's both a clear-cut rivalry between him and Ace and some deeper, more personal storyline through David and his father, which, if I recall correctly from the last time I was here, those two have a rather negatively-storied past. Does that work for you? I posted it here because it'd be a shame for people to see that as the first post for that wonderfully written piece. EDIT: Posted my thoughts in better description into the actual thread. Maybe that'll help the views

Good time waster - going full tilt into writing an rp that won't see the light of day til around December/January.
