Possible Topic:
Alex brought something up in my rp and I was thinking on this a bit and wondered seriously what everyones opinion was.
I admit(personally) i have wandered towards shorter rps and trying to give more direction and artistry to them...now the norm of the fed right now is mostly that of long rps that tend be more of a story...which i love...but I begin to wonder if mine fall short in most peoples eye due to not following...
Now this is not everyone and the question is more so this.
What kind of rping do you do and what do you feel looks better or feels like a better read. Some still do monologues and several other themes to rps but I was just asking what everyone liked to see and whats types they think fall short in rping?

Sorry for stopping short in my replies today, something came up. The other RPs should be replied to soonish, depending on whats on my plate in the next few days.
I think the style of RP a writer uses should be the style they think would personally be best for them. Rev, I love the uniqueness that your RPs bring to the table, and it really allows me to look forward to what you have planned for the future. That's just my opinion though.

I've always been a monologue guy. I just like that style and it fits with what I can do. I've tried to incorporate sort of diary entry-ish things in the past but I just felt like it was just too forced. I'll stick with monologues until I come up with something better

I prefer the monologue type style as well, you are basically describing a scene that is happening that pertains to the match you are in and development of the character.

I actually like to mix and match depending on what I feel like writing. It all comes down to what ideas I have flowing and what kind of inspiration hits me. Personally I think I'm strongest when it comes to monologuing however.

Or atleast I do. My only issue with your rps isn't really the lack of talent or lack of story or idea. It just seems to me that either you don't have the time anymore to write those 3-4 page long rps you used to or you just don't have that same drive. I have this issue myself at times, as to where after I finish my rp and post is I realize how short it is and it disappoints me that I couldn't put more into the rp. It feels like something is missing. You are a good writer I just think you, like me, have to dig deeper and really pull out the drive that got you to the title and me into contention before I left.

Personally I think I'm strongest when it comes to monologuing however. you wanna know why that is? Because monologues ARE the easiest to write. All you do is write a scene, and have your character talk to himself. It's so easy. It gets boring when its the same thing every week. I don't mean completely change your style .. im just saying monologues should be the easiest because you basically get taught how to write one in high school. Personally I like creativity to go along with monologues. I like to mix and match try not to do the same things week in and week out. Basically try not to bore my reader.

I can safely say there is usually nothing more unnecessary than a 3-4 page RP. Unless every single facet of it is absolutely perfect it's usually quite dreadful to read. There are only a handful of people I can recall that used to write super-long RP's that were interesting enough for me to read through them all. Calvin says monologues are boring, I find stupidly long RP's to be boring.

Honestly Clavin...my reason for short rps isnt a lack of drive its the idea that length for me doesnt supercede what I do put forth into them...they maybe abstract and a little different but in honesty I just dont feel like 3-4 pages worth of rping is necessary like I use to....I write till i feel its done. I will admit a lack of creativity this week but the length is never my problem with them.
I guess I just look for quality...hence why most novella's are literary greats and most novels stay as just that...novels. Its not about length but substance

Exactly, it's all about the quality of the roleplay. If I've got a choice between a four page mediocre roleplay and a one or two page classic then you can bet it's the shorter one that wins. There are very few people here that can actually churn out a long roleplay worth reading.

I didn't. I used one of my best plates to move bratwurst from my house to my parents house. When the meat was gone, it got thrown in my parents sink to be cleaned. Then a bunch of egg cups got thrown on top. then they sat there, a pool of food coloring on my plate, which sat there for about 2 or 3 hours until I left. I sprayed and wiped it off, but it left a big stain. It's currently running through a dishwashing along with some bleach powder.. Hopefully this crap comes off of it..
