– Undertaker suffered a busted nose at this week’s SmackDown television taping in Cleveland, in due part to Rey Mysterio’s “619″ maneuver. He bled for a few minutes before the dark match concluded. Unlike two instances at Sunday’s Over The Limit pay-per-view, no trainer was sent out to stop the bleeding.
Many within WWE feel the company’s stance on blood is a direct result of Linda McMahon campaigning for office. One of the main reasons the company has prohibited blood from appearing on television is due agreements that have been made to attract high-level sponsors such as Coca-Cola. The feeling is the rule would only change in case WWE’s popularity tapers. Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer believes WWE’s PG stance will remain in effect until either their licensing agreement with Mattel expires, which is years from now, or another wrestling company, such as TNA Wrestling, diminishes their popularity.

Waits for the masses to complain about more PG....................... Wait no longer. I think it is rediculous that there is no blood in the WWE. And when there is blood, the trainers stop the flow of the match, whether it is a good or bad match it ruins it. I'm not saying wrestlers need to go and blade like Flair, but certain matches NEED blood. Bret v. Vince at Mania is a prime example, as is Cena/Batista at OTL.

Didn't Taker break his nose in his match with Rey at Royal Rumble too?

I'm curious what will happen if/when Linda loses. Anybody know when it will be over?

They've always had licenses to toy companies for action figures, even thru the Attitude Era. I don't get what the difference is there.

I don't get what the difference is there. the larger a company becomes and the more business relationships that are created, the more people there are (who don't care about the wrestling) to complain. Sucks for us, but I was one of the minorities that didn't like blood often and thought it should be saved for big matches. Ditto on chairs. I'm fine with them taking them all to the back, I don't like to see them take them on the head at all ever since the awareness for concussions rose.

It's time for that man to hang his boots up. Cause he busted his nose? He's still a great wrestler, the last few years have arguably been the best of his career, so he should not hang em up, though he does have his injuries.

I just want Hornswoggle to be a WWE-joke, blood in moderation and less "Hilarious comedy segments with Jillian, Guest Host and Santino."
I know they're TV-PG for Linda, but if she loses, WWE needs to realize they can still do everything they want to from an edgy aspect and remain family-friendly. If you're TV-14, you don't have to be TV-14 all the way, just make it TV-14 for Violence that way you can keep blood if and when it happens. Not like TV-14 shows can't get good sponsors. Just look at any Network's Primetime Line-up and you'll see blood isn't your problem when it comes to sponsors.

Mysterio has bust 'Taker's nose before, at the Royal Rumble I believe. Good job he didn't break anything major.
And as for the medics not clearing up 'Taker's blood, I am 90% sure that he would be extremely pissed off if his matches were stopped, and because he is up there with Triple H in terms of authority, I doubt they would want to piss him off, so best to leave it.

PG has nothing to do with no blood. The blood rule is stemming either from, like the article said, Linda's campaign, or something WWE just wants to do. You're allowed to show blood on shows that are TV-PG. I've seen plenty of it on network television shows.

I find it insulting they cover up the blood. You need to cater to die hard fans not passive kids that will "grow out of it".

I just hope they would at least have blood on PPV's I hate paying close to $50 and having the match stop because of a little cut and I can see some of the wrestlers hate it also.

I say this all the time, I understand on TV they dont want to show blood because kids can watch that no problem. But a PPV, the parent has to order it for them. If they know blood is allowed on PPV's, then they can choose not to order it. I hate paying almost $50 and when a really good match stops due to blood, it really pisses me off. I hope this campaign ends within this year so they can give us some stuff back.

Undertaker is the only guy that can get away with the blood. He would probably legit shove the medics away if they tried to touch him. Awesome.
