Not sure if this goes on the TNA borad or MMA/UFC board but...
Flair took the "WWE approach" when asked to evaluate MMA as it relates to pro wrestling. Flair said he doesn't believe MMA affects the wrestling business.
"I think there's cross-over, but I don't think it affects us at all. I'm not saying wrestling fans don't watch MMA, but it is two different audiences," Flair said.
"My take on MMA is that those guys are phenomenal athletes and extraordinarily tough and committed but the people that are crazy about them got nothing going on themselves. I actually think most of the male public that is crazy for that are living vicariously for something they can never be."
When asked about pro wrestling fans living vicariously through wrestling stars, Flair's defense was "wrestling is more entertainment-based."
"MMA is what it is, those guys are out there trying to kill each other. And the guys that are sitting at home going 'wow' could never find that within themselves on the first day of their life," Flair said.
After cutting a promo on MMA fans, Flair said he doesn't believe MMA can make stars as well as pro wrestling can. He suggested a wrestler who becomes a star can live off his name well past an MMA fighter's longevity in the sport.
"It's hard to develop a star in that business that's going to have any longevity," Flair said. "In wrestling, a guy that develops a name for himself can do it for 15 years."

No offense, but who ing cares what Ric Flair thinks of MMA? I mean, the point he tries to link to MMA could be said for any sport, and is somewhat offensive in my opinion. Just because I can't get in the octagon like some of these fighters doesn't mean I "long" to be one of them or I'm living through them. It just means they are good at a sport I enjoy, so I watch them. Maybe he should be more concerned with his next divorce instead of trying to slam a sport with a generalization.

And what is Flair doing?
Living off his name. It has nothing to do with his ability. I love how he described himself perfectly.

Agree 100% Sean, it seems there is no end to Flair's indignation of late, and as someone that likes both, also find it somewhat offensive, much like his output in TNA.

During his shoot interview, he went a different approach, babbling like a crazy man about "who's their stars? they have no stars. they have no star power and no household names" and about how it's "all just a human cockfight and no one but drunk hicks go to see it".

Big surprise, Ric Flair being a two-faced jackass... Who would've thought?

That's kind of sad to hear, but not surprising coming from an older person in a sport that some people falsely feel rivals wrestling. He can say what he wants about "lasting star power" but in reality, MMA is still kind of young enough to where we don't have a clear knowledge of where all these top stars will be 10-15 yrs after they hang up the gloves. But, if we want to be as biased as him, we can say that MMA is off to a much better start in regards to it's athletes building something off their "name". Plenty of guys who make it in MMA go on to open their own clothing line, make money training others, or open their own gyms. Many of them even do this WHILE they are active fighters. We won't know where MMA pioneers of today will be doing to make a living in the same span of time that Flair has been an active wrestler. Though it's good to see that a lot of them are making the efforts needed to avoid having to be flopped around the ring, and bloodied up like a fool well into their 60's just to avoid bankruptcy.

Go listen to Scott Steiner's shoot interview on Ric Flair and how Ric made it in the business. I don't have the time to find it just now, but if you youtube Scott Steiner interview it should pop up.

I went ahead and looked for that interview, but I couldn't find it. I'll have to do a more indepth search.
Basically Scott says when he was first getting into the business that everybody hated Flair and how they thought he was a **** and a kiss ass. Flair got his push from being the bag boy for the promoter and some of the other top stars. Literally would have to lug all their luggage in and out of venues and hotels. Another account I think he said came from Mr Fuji was something about Flair having to stand and hold a towel for somebody while they took a shower.
If I can find the interview I'll pop it into the thread, it's pretty funny.

It starts out seeming like it'll be decent safe stance on MMA and then the wheels fall off the wagon. And then the wagon catches on fire dragging the mangled corpse of the drive behind it.

They can't build stars?
When's the last time an established name like Ric Flair pulled over a million PPV buys, because rumor has it Rashad vs. Rampage topped a mill.
