Am i the only one excited for this fight? All i hear is everybody bitching about how pointless the fight is. And honestly, it kinda is.
BUT, im still interested in seeing this because its featuring two fighters that have been in a slump as of late. Liddell just hasn't been the same since rampage knocked his ass out back in 07', and Franklin has won 3 of 5 since being ripped apart by Silva in similar fashion the second time. Franklin is still winning at least, but he doesnt look the same either IMO. (since losing to silva twice)
IMO this is a must win for Chuck Liddell. Hes lost four of his last fights, with 3 of them being by KO/TKO. Dana was already hesitant about letting him fight again after the Shogun loss. If Liddell loses again, he'll still have a role in the UFC, just not fighting.
Your thoughts?

Well, I'm not excited about the fact that Chuck may lose, but I am excited to see Franklin back. I pretty much knew that Liddell would beat Tito easily, and was pretty pissed to see Tito backed out.
With that said, I really, REALLY hope Chuck wins. People always talk sh*t about him, but I like him, I like his style. One thing you can't deny him is that he always comes to fight standing, and hardly ever takes it to the ground. Rich is a great stand-up fighter himself, so I can only assume this will be a very memorable fight that I HOPE Chuck wins.

Personaly I think Chuck would lose but I would hope not, Rich is a good fighter, just he doesn't do it for me, and Liddell was one of those guys who got me into MMA so I really DO NOT want to see him lose at all.

I'm excited for this fight, and really hope it turns out to be entertaining. My biggest concern is that I dont think Chuck has the chin anymore to get into a punch for punch contest.
I'll be putting money on Franklin.

IN all fairness, Franklin doesn't have the greatest chin either...

Rich is more than a "good" fighter, very well rounded.

IN all fairness, Franklin doesn't have the greatest chin either... That's not very fair. He's really only ever been knocked unconscious once, against Vitor, who is one of the best strikers out there. Generally, his problem is with southpaw strikers, which ironically are the 3 guys who gave him the TKO's.

What i meant to say was...To be fair, both Liddell and Franklin have better chins then Jardine. ;D

I think its a quality fight betwen two guys who have had great careers.
The problem I have is that I think Rich is far closer to his peak than Chuck is. I can see Rich's crisp striking landing before Chuck's looping punches & unfortunately another KO loss for Liddell.

Yea thats another thing, Chuck's overhand rights are nowhere near as fast as they used to be. He leaves himself wide open everytime he throws one. In fact, he even throws those wide hooks that leaves him prone to getting knocked out.

As much as I love them both, I'm going for Rich Franklin. Should be a good fight... I hope.

I'd like to see Tito climb the cage, hit Franklin with a chair, run and catch Liddell with a flying armbar, and then proceed to pee on Dana as he leaves the cage.

Yeah I wanted Tito/Liddell but I do enjoy Franklin's fights too. Should be a good fight even with Franklin being Tito's replacement.

I love both of these guys but I was shocked to see Dana even give Chuck another chance. He's certainly lost his chin over the past couple of years and just isn't the same fighter. Rich still gots it imo and I would like to see him pull out the victory.
