Dude really? how the is this AZ'z fault? It is not the state, but the citizens of the state, as the whole reason why the skin is being lightened is due to citizens yelling racial slurs because they see a brown person. Same reason the bill is bad, because it is only going to target brown people. If it gets sh*t done, then so be it. It's better than giving illegals the free ride that they all seem to think they deserve. Hell, it's better than anything DC's come up with since it became such a big issue.

Yeah, except the bill does nothing to target the people responsible (i.e. big industries like the meat packing industry which employs tons of illegals, or the yuppies who don't want to pay a fair wage to keep up their houses.) In addition, a large percentage of illegal immigrants are European and Canadian, yet I don't think white people are going to be targeted by this bill at all.

Again, better to have something done rather than nothing at all.

You do realize that there are immigrants (even illegal immigrants) from countries like Canada/France/England/etc. who are caucasian; right?

I'm just saying that AZ's bill is a step in the right direction. Any and all illegal "aliens", white, black, spanish, asian, or an actual alien need to get their asses in line for the proper documentation before they demand to be treated with American rights.

You are missing the point that this has serious ramifications for legal immigrants and American citizens who are of the hispanic persuasion. Plus, doesn't change the fact that, illegal or not, people should not scream racial slurs at people who are painting something for a school, especially not a slur against Hispanics, in a very high percentage hispanic state. And I am only counting the legal ones there.

For people to make a fuss over it is just ridiculous, so I chose not to mention it because it just seems too stupid to carry a thread over. I also understand the ramifications for legals, but the illegal immigration epidemic has become such a big deal that this seems to be the only thing that can be done by Arizona because the higher ups in the government just want to leave the problem for the next president to deal with and so on and so forth. (my apologies for the run-on sentence.)

(my apologies for the run-on sentence.) I understand you appreciate the effort... but the bill is bad because 1.) It opens the door to racial profiling 2.) It hurts innocent people. 3.) It will accomplish absolutely nothing, because it does not address the cause. It is the same situation as prohibition and the drug laws. It addresses the symptom (there are illegal immigrants), instead of the cause (people create opportunity for illegals, which attracts them to this country.) If we look at it from an economic stand point, as long as there is demand, there will be someone willing to supply. So, how about writing your lawmakers to pass laws to fine and imprison those who hire illegal aliens. Oh wait, because then all the lawmakers would be in jail.

Well hell, maybe the controversy and backlash from all of this will make someone in DC get off their ass and come up with a reasonable solution. But either way, there's always going to be a side that doesn't like the end result. ugh. why must the former greatest country in the world be run by some of the most idiotic people to ever step foot in it?

Because the masses have been brainwashed into believing there are only two sides to chose from, when there is actually 360 degrees to chose from.

Burton:
This is old hat. . . . they've said there's already protocol in place to prevent racial profiling. You seem intelligent enough so I'm sure you've already heard about it and understand that all protocol of the like will never truly eliminate all profiling because you can't change people’s personal prejudice, but having it in place is a start.

Look, I know you cannot eliminate prejudices... however, they say that they have protocols in place, but they seem to not want to say what those protocols are. These protocols will probably be very similar to the protocols enforced in New York for the stop and search laws. Those protocols allow for 80% of the people stopped and searched to be black and hispanic. If you could provide me ANY information on what the actual protocols would be, I am always happy to review and change my stance. But a state merely saying, "Oh yeah, we got that covered..." is not enough for me.
