Mir comes froma strong Karate background, his father teaching him from a young age. Liddell's first martial art was Kempo Karate, before moving on to kickboxing.

Bonnar's website- He began wrestling at ten, and Tae Kwon Do at thirteen. Earning his Tae Kwon Do black belt, at the age of sixteen. Carter's actually a blackbelt in Shidokan Karate and JDS is a brown belt, my bad.

It's quiet intresting you know, looking around the web and reading up on the different fighters backgrounds. Like Franklin, he's alwasy been announced as just a mixed martial artist, but when you see what rankings he's acheived in different martial arts, its pretty amazing.

There are also RUMORS going around that Anderson Silva is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, black belt in Judo and also a yellow rope in Capoeira, not sure how much is true.

Wouldnt suprise me with Silva. He seems like the sort of fighter that likes to explore other disciplines. Same with GSP, I don't think we actaully know just what he trains in and his true rankings. Probably same with the majority of pro MMA fighters. The interview with CroCop was intresting after UFC 115. When he was saying how everyone thinks he's just a stand up kickboxer, then he moved on to say he's been training BJJ for over 10 years.

Im still gutted that Liddell didn't beat Jackson. Yeah, Rampage was good but I wish we got Wandy vs. Liddel in 03 and not at UFC 79.

Yea, now I wouldn't want to see the fight because of Wandy to me is falling down hill.

Yeah I agree. It seems like he's become more of a sportsman, he's not as ruthless and as risking as he used to be. I can see him getting a KO win at 116 though, well i hope.

Sexyama has very good Judo though. Agreed. Even though we don't see it much, Wandy's ground game is good. I think Silva's going to go in looking for the one punch finish to be honest. Just in and out, wouldn't suprise me if he avoided the clinch, to dodge the take downs and throws.

Akiyama is like a 3rd or 4th degree black belt in Judo. Dong Hyun Kim is a 4th degree. There are lots of guys right now who are black belts at a lot of things. I'll try and list some BJJ ones I know of. Some guys are very close and considered very high-level even though they do not have a black belt, like Nate Diaz. - Frank Mir - Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira - Antônio Rogerio Nogueira - Roy Nelson - Anderson Silva (Also Black Belts in Judo & Tae Kwon Do, which are legit) - Georges St-Pierre (Also 3rd degree black belt in Kyokushin Karate) - Ricardo Almeida (3rd degree) - Thiago Silva - Luiz Cane - Kenny Florian - Gabe Gonzaga - Renzo Gracie (6th degree & black belt in Judo, who I myself am earning my stripes from ) - Dustin Hazelett - Lyoto Machida (Also 3rd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate) - Demian Maia (2nd degree) - Nate Marquardt - Dan Miller - Rousimar Palhares - Kurt Pellegrino (Trained with him on many occasions) - BJ Penn - Mauricio Rua - Matt Serra - Wanderlei Silva - George Sotiropoulos - Joe Stevenson (Also black belt in Judo) - Paulo Thiago (Also black belt in Judo) Those are the ones I can think of. I'm almost positive there's more.
