I'm just curious why celebrities are always given things for free which they can EASILY afford.
I was just reading a story about how Carvel gave out cards to celebrities so they could come in and get free ice cream whenever they wanted. They gave one to Lindsay Lohan and her mom started using it so much that Carvel had to take it away from her. Lindsay Lohan's mom called the police to come to Carvel and caused a whole big scene.
I mean really? Over ice cream? I'm only a part time substitute teacher and I can and do pay for my own ice cream. A celebrity shouldn't A) need to be given free ice cream, B) use the free ice cream card so much that they take it away from you, and C) call the POLICE over ice cream.
Shouldn't companies be giving out free stuff to regular people to maybe try and interest them to buy their products in the future? I just don't understand why spoiled rich people who can afford pretty much everything are constantly given things for FREE, and then they still usually end up abusing it or complaining about it in some way.
I dunno....anybody have any thoughts?

I think the obvious answer is to influence all the regular people. Even if the celebrity doesn't verbally endorse something, just seeing them use a product can make a bunch of people want it. A good review from a celebrity will go further than one from a regular person.

^ Pretty much.
Some people might want to go to a certain place to eat if they think they can see a celeb they like.
That goes for clubs too.
I mean I heard Spencer and Heidi got like 50k just to go to parties.
Why anyone would pay them [since who wants to see them both] is crazy but I guess it must work.

Because they are famous.

When it's heard that a celebrity uses a certain brand/product, people go crazy over it and are often more tempted to try it out themselves, meaning more sales/interest from the public. The loss that the company makes when giving away the free stuff to the celebrity is more than made up for when the customer's come flocking because of the celebrity use etc.

Celebrities are pampered enough. They don't need to be given free shit.

Regular people need the free ice cream sometime , but the celebrities dont need it free ... they are rich and x10 000 richer then us and they are the one that gets the free things ? Its like giving them 2$ extra on their ''Pay'' they dont care about it THEY ARE RICH .Yes the fact that a artist or celeb person go at a place make people come over there , but point is that they dont need it , but the seller of the place make more $ because it make some sort of ''commercial'' for his company.

These companies know the majority of people are mindless sheep that will try to emulate celebrities as much as possible.

It's not that she was using it too much...It's that the guy behind the counter knew it wasn't Lindsay Lohan and the card can only be used by Lindsay.

Lorenzo, I love you. I really do. I just had to post that. But it's so that normal people see celebrities using their product so they now want to use that product. But Lindsey Lohans a nut job. She probably spends all her money on crack so free food helps her out.

They want to get their loyalty to their brand. Give them a free iPhone, and they use it. Maybe they buy 10 of them for their family. Maybe they love it so much they will do launch events for it. Same with restaurants. Play to their ego, give them a free steak, maybe they come back, but with their whole entourage. People find out that this celebrity comes there, and they want to come there too.

Don't forget the paparazzi are always around.
Celebrity gets picture taken going into an ice cream store; picture is all over internet and magazines and boom; free advertising for the store as well as an 'endorsement' from a famous person whether they are buying or getting a freebie.
It's actually a very clever business plan; getting a celebrity to endorse your product could cost tens of thousands of dollars plus the advertising cost for an advert in a magazine. One picture from a paparazzi gives you both of those for the cost of an ice cream.

What's so great about being a celebrity? I mean sure you have tons of money and such nice things. But I enjoy having privacy and being able to go somewhere without 30 photographers trying to get embarrassing pictures of me.
