lol. Just to really clear up things for some people.... Hip Hop/Rap musicians, can have legends. Look at Tupac & Biggie Smalls... & Metallica, the name Metallica is like the name Elvis, if you listen to Rock and don't know Metallica, you don't even deserve the know music.

can't believe he forgot cobain. Cobain is already a legend... Plus we aren't talking about people already dead, it's artist that will go down as legends. I figured we were just talking about ones alive. lol

Eminem. Metallica. Bob Dylan. U2. The Rolling Stones. Run-DMC. Queen. Led Zeppelin. Roger Daltrey. Pete Townshend. Paul McCartney. Eddie Vedder. David Bowie.

I definatly think Weird Al should go down as a legend. No one can touch him parody wise and look how many Grammys he has.

I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of 80's and 90's artists who aren't going to be legends in the sense of an MJ or a Lennon, but maybe just an overall feeling of "maybe we didn't appreciate this person as much as we should've while he (or she) was still around".

can't believe he forgot cobain. Is this list about legendary status or legendary on quality of music? Because Cobain shouldn't be on quality.

Listen to his home demos & watch him play live. The man was a genius, as other artist have said. His quality of music hasn't been done since and anybody that tries to copy will fail.

The only reason why Curt Kobain is remembered to this day is because he died. Sure, he had some good grunge music...But other than that, he isn't legend. And this thread is filled with people who listen to music...But don't LISTEN to music. It's what I love to do and you guys are just dead wrong on some of these names being thrown out.

He's a legend because he played great music, had wonderful music and did it all by himself. He designed the art work, t-shirts, wrote the music, created his own guitar. If you watched videos of his funeral you would see he had tons of fans and was a legend before he died, probably one the quickest artist to become noticed world wide & become a legend, and die all within just a few years. Mans a genius. He wasn't into showtime or money, and could careless if he even got famous, and that is what a true musician is, someone who just loves to play. If you did re-search on him you would find that out.. & No, we aren't dead wrong on anything, we've all listed legendary artist that have accomplished many goals in the music industry and have true fans. Name us the musicians that you think are not worthy of being legendary material.

If you remove the tshirt and guitar part that sounds like many other musicians. It doesn't make it so though.

Snoop Dogg? Eminem? Sure, they may be good, but it's going to be a long time after our generation is gone before someone refers to them as legends. And then others that are named...Aretha, Dylan, McCartney, Run-DMC, etc are already of that status. And like I said...I'm not denying Kurt of his hits. I'm denying all of you of calling him a legend. Because he's not/ And he never will be. Perhaps if he was still living to...No, you know what, if he was still alive today I bet he'd be right where every other band is that was famous in the '90's.....NOWHERE. Oh and...Research isn't a hyphenated word.

Oh and...Research isn't a hyphenated word. Maybe you should do research, like I said, or just watch the video where artist like Neil Young say that Kurt Cobain is pretty much his favorite. He's a legend, common sense & any human that knows music will understand that, this topic is about Artist that will go down, as legends. Eminem, Snoop, Grohl, already legends. Dave Grohl was in Nirvana, which was one of the best bands of the 90's, plus if you seen him play on the drums, he was amazing, he instantly started a new band, Foo Fighters after Kurt's death which instantly kicked in to fame. Snoop & Em... Come on, who don't know those names. You, just need to understand music more.

Yea, ok...Guess what I'm not going to argue anymore...I can't change opinions of people. My music library spans from the maybe 1500's - 2010, so you can't honestly try and tell me to "understand more music"
