Ok so I recently came across some detailed pics of Jerry Lawlers old Unified World title. What interested me is the side plates on the Title. The two on the left said AWA Wrestling and CWA Wrestling, as Lawler was the champ of CWA and beat Hennig to become the champ of AWA. Then on the Right side it says CWF and WCCW. We know he beat Von Erich for the WCCW Title but where did they get CWF from? Championship Wrestling from Florida wasnt around then so it wasnt that. Fuller's CWF title linage never shows Lawler winning the title. Im almost 100% positive that CWF and CWA were never really linked as Fullers ran CWF/SECW and Jarrett/Lawler had CWA........
So the question bears.....where the hell did they get CWF from as part of the unification??

I also tried finding this out for you, but failed. The only thing I could really find out about Lawler was a possible hair versus hair match against Austin Idol.
If you still have the pictures of the belt, could you post them?

During this time Continental Championship Wrestling was switching to the name Continental Wrestling Federation (CWF) tho Lawler didnt have that title at any point to my knowledge..But he did defend the AWA world title in the CWF a few times. So im gonna have to guess that that's what it is.

So im gonna have to guess that that's what it is. Even though I live in Tennessee Continental was either before my time or we never got it here since in East TN Mid Atlantic was closer. What was the main title in CCW/CWF? What Im thinking is that they just recognized the AWA Champion (Like CWA did) and thus thats how they got their name on the belt. If Im not mistaken the CWA champ really wasnt the world champ but Southern Champ until Lawler unifed titles.

G2- Pretty muh...In the CCW days they recognized the NWA title as the world title...Then in the CWF days they started reconizing the AWA title...as far as the main title first it was the Continental Championship....then It became the CWF heavyweight title..i cant remember what the CCW belt looked like...But the CWF title kinda looked like the NWA's Western States HEritage title..if tthat helps..lol

I could have sworn I heard Lawler cut a promo one Saturday Morning about having to go to Birmingham to face a champion of some sort. Don't know if the CWF champion is being directly referenced there or not but it was in that time period. To my knowledge he never held the title though. I am guessing the CWFs name is on there just to reinforce the fact that it was supposed to be a part of that consortium that included AWA and WCCW as the big guys. A shame it all fell apart relatively quickly
