Since there were no bites on "The Hands Resist Him" painting, have you guys ever heard of the game Polybius? I read about it years ago, apparently it was a game introduced in arcades in the early 80's. It attracted a ton of kids, and men in black would show up and take some sort of data from the game. After kids played the game, they started to suffer from amnesia, insomnia, nightmares, night terrors, and it's said that some even committed suicide. Bizarre legend, here's a link to the Wikipedia page. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polybius_(game)

I'm glad you posted it because I really wanted to remember the name. I read about that in a video game magazine a few years ago, it freaked me out because it very well could be real.

These are all interesting to read, but I wonder why all of them are video-game based... There have only been two video game based ones posted. What are you talking about? I really like some of these stories. Some. The others are just so ridiculous that they are totally unenjoyable. Like both video game ones, and the Sonic one, among others. Let's still keep this going though, I don't want to see it die. Sorry, I meant video-game and cartoon-based...all good though.

Well it appears we're running out of good ones. Not to say we couldn't make our own...

This thread provided me with the most entertainment of any thread this year aside from maybe the "are you filming this" thread. I hope it doesn't die, but there are a lot of crappy scary stories out there, far more than the good ones. I almost want to write my own. How twisted is it that I had a few ideas for "lost episodes" in the past week?

My nephews and I , while on a trip with us up in northen michigan. Took the golf cart out to drive down the street. What's weird is when I drove them down a field to look at nature. All the sudden they all started shouting and freaked out and told me to drive. I didn't see anything. When we drove back, all told me they saw a man in a black suit, sunglasses, and a black hat, carrying a black suitcase, was walking in the field. They tried to respond to him, but he didn't answer.
By the way, this actually happened to us, and we often joke about it. ;D

Did you hear the one about the guy who murdered an entire message board's group of action figure customizers?
Me neither. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As some of you might know, I am a video game nerd. And as I know more about video games than most video game experts know (like I know all the Pokemon games to EVER come out), I will be tackling 14 different classic video game urban legends, compiled by UGO.com and confirmed/denied by me, using knowledge that I have learned throughout my years.
1. Michael Jackson was supposed to do music work on Sonic 3.
This one is 100% true, as SEGA themselves have confirmed it in their "Did You Know?" sections of the game descriptions in the Genesis collections featuring the game that Sega has released in the recent years. This one is CONFIRMED.
2. Blow The NES Cart to Fix It
This one has actually been DENIED by UGO themselves, even though I've done it plenty of times and it's always worked, which CONFIRMS it for me, but they have a great explanation. And I quote, "It doesn't work. You're damaging your games. The moisture from your breath causes the cart's good bits to corrode. Use rubbing alcohol. It works better and evaporates quickly."
3. There's a nude code for Tomb Raider (any of them).
Sorry, teenage boys (and girls questioning their sexuality), but this one is DENIED. There was a patch which did what the "code" promised, but Eidos cease and desist'd them.
4. You can wrap you Xbox 360 in a warm towel to get that RRoD fixed.
I have an old 360 that I won from Mountain Dew that got one. Never tried this. But, according to UGO, this one is HALF-TRUE. It does work, but it only continues to play games for about 20-30 minutes, then it RRoDs again. Plus, this technique also left permanent damage on your 360, practically forcing you to get a new one. You should go and get the new model, anyways. Heard it has less RRoD possibilities.
5. Shen Long
Anyone who still has that 1992 issue of EGM, pull it out right now. Apparently, most EGM readers have the intelligence of a 1-month old monkey, as they believed that if you did not touch or get touched by M. Bison and let it go to a draw, do it 10 times, then you'd get to fight Shen Long. It wasn't just EGM readers, though. European and Chinese publications thought it was real, so they published the code and got everyone who played Street Fighter II trying it out. Too bad nobody realized that the publication date was April 1992, making this the worst (or best) executed April Fool's joke in video game history.
The other ones are coming later, but here's a glimpse: next is Super Mario's Secret Communist Agenda!

Word. I'm just bringing to light that there is one. What other tv shows could we do though? Family Guy and Flintstones come to mind.
