???Hi. I just purchased a real pro wrestling ring (came from jim cornettes old smokey mountain wrestling). The canvas has been in storage for 11 years and I need to clean it badly. I'm hoping someone here has a real canvas and can give me some tips on what to use to clean it. I googled it and came up with some mixtures with lysol (liquid) and salt and stuff but figured I would ask here from someone with experience. Thank you!

You could always buy a new one for a few hundred.

I've heard promoters say before they take their canvas to the laundry mat and wash it in the biggest washer they have. Not sure how you'd go about doing that, but it's possibly something to look into

Id shell out the $600 or what not and get a vinyl especially if its going to be outdoors a lot. Ive had fabric canvas and they both sucked. Vinyl is almost invincible to rips and weathering and is worth the money. Cleaning a canvas is damn near impossible. Thats why you take good care of it and TV feds get a new canvas every single show, sometimes even change them out mid show.

Canvas cleaning is very difficult if you are using the fabric type of canvas. Some cleaners that you think would be good for it will just eat it up and ruin it. Personally shell out and buy a Vinyl one that isnt going to rip and you can clean down easily. Really though the fact you've got Corny's old ring is an achievement in itsself and I'd put it into storage for preservation. If however you want to use it get the fabric off and put that in storage as a nice collectable and buy a vinyl one.

If it's the standard canvas mat, you can always use a Kirby (if you have one and it has the shampoo attachment and supplies) to shampoo it when it's on the ring because it dries quickly. Otherwise, you're gonna need a couple hundred to buy a new canvas mat.
I remember seeing a Japanese promotion (All Japan, IIRC) that just laid the mat on concrete and used soap and water with a scrub broom and then dried it.
