This question has been lurking in my head and i wanted to ask you guys what you'd do. I live in the UK so this is like virtually impossible but if you bought a 1/1000 and opened it and found it to be faulty would you return the fig and belt or just fig?

I'd feel bad returning it without the belt to be honest (especially since it notes that it comes with the 1/1000 belt on the packaging). To be honest, I'd probably just keep the figure if it was faulty just so I can keep the 1/1000 and not feel guilty if I were to return it.

I would call Mattel and get a voucher for the defective figure and go out and buy another of the figure.

You purchased the figure. The figure comes with a belt because it's part of a promotion. It's a 1/1,000 chance that you, the consumer will find a figure with the belt. So it's like getting a prize in a cereal box. It's a bonus, a freebie. There's no reason to feel bad about returning the main defective product without the extra it came with. You were lucky enough to find the prize, so it's like those television commercials that give a free appliance or a kitchen utensil with their product as a means of selling more to entice people. If you aren't satisfied with the product, just return it.
Bottom line, you found a bonus. Keep it and return the figure.

I'd call Mattel and try and get a manufacturers coupon for a new figure. More than likely they'll send you the coupon and tell you to keep the figure. If I couldn't get the coupon then I'd just buy a new one and return the broken figure.
