The order goes: Championship Title Series (#1) - Fall '97 Off The Mat - Fall '98 Hardcore Champions/Championship Title Belt Series (#2) - Fall '99 (released simultaneously) Total Attitude Grapple Gear - Late Fall '99 Here are pics of the TRU Exclusive Hardcore Champions and Total Attitude sets (not mine): I would have loved both those sets when I was a kid. Especially the accessories with the steps, table and belt. Jakks were unrivaled when it came to accessories, however only from around 2000 onwards. Some more stuff like this around 97-98 would have been cool.

Are there actual differences between the Harris Bros (Skull and 8-Ball) figures released in the Best Of line? Good question. Being that it is Jakks, I would assume there is no difference. Then again, I know that whichever one who wasn't in the 2pack had a single released in Best of series, but I can't remember the other. I'd look it up but I'm on Muraco watch. lol

One interesting thing about this set is that the belts are not all the same. The gold plates can be either light or dark gold. Here's an example of a set with the dark gold plates: This version with the light gold plates is harder to find, I believe: Love the BCA stories. Diesel and Goldust would've hit just before the summer of '97, and I can imagine that was a surprise to even the most hardcore of collectors. It wasn't like they were advertised on the back of the Series 3 card or anything. Austin's debut in "Bad Boys" Series 4 is when I think collectors really started to take notice of the line, mainly due to his popularity on TV. I was too young to order figures on my own in those days, but I could easily see myself doing the same thing. I never got Razor and Diesel until I was much older, but they definitely would've been at the top of my list. I mean, if I was willing to spend $15 to get Droz's debut figure early in '99, then I'd probably be game for anything. For the hell of it, here's the other boxset, second set of belts The set was nice looking MIB too, think all the figures were the easy BCA cop out of re-releasing figures (pic credit vintage Jakks BCA blog) Austin is actually unique in that it's the only release with Series 6 HHH arms (2 Tuff 5 has NAO arms) and 2 Tuff 5 Austin legs without the knee brace accessory. X-Pac is a repaint because of the yellow tights. No other Jakks BCA X-Pac has those exact tights. Kane and The Rock are re-releases. Thanks for posting those. I def. remember the Hardcore Champions boxset. I passed on it, because I always thought to myself "What do I need figures I already owned & 4 Hardcore belts for?". As far as the Total Attitude, I don't recall that at all. I hated TTL's and just stopped collecting all together. (In fact, thinking about it, I dabbled with Hasbro's during BCA's, some here some there, but it started to really take shape after the release of TTL's. It's when I started buying higher priced, significant figures.) I never had the Hardcore Champions set growing up, but I know for a fact that I received the Total Attitude set as a gift (either for my birthday or Christmas) because I still have a few of the original pieces, like the fan signs and the green and black guitar. Those were exclusive to that set. Back to BCA's, Series 7 was such a pain in the you know what, if I ever see just a Dr Death figure swinging on a peg by himself, I'd have nightmares. That XPac figure was in such high demand over here. Don't remember when I found them, but it was after going to multiple TRUs lots of times. Series 8 is when it got real for people, at least for me. I mean Shane, HBK, Shamrock were top notch (at the time), but that Bossman figure was like a Holy Grail. I always looked at it as one of, if not the, best BCA ever. After looking for them like crazy-I made a special hour long trip to a TRU an hour away and found the whole spread. Hardest to find at that point, so the ride was worth it. I remember how excited I was to add X-Pac, Edge and Val Venis to my collection. Dr Death...not so much lol. He and Jacqueline will always be on my Mount Rushmore of peg warmers. The quality of Series 8 is unmatched as far as Jakks BCA Superstars series are concerned, in my opinion. I rate Boss Man very high, like Top 4 best overall sculpts (along with Series 9 Paul Wight, Grudge Match Luna and Cactus Jack from the KB 3-Packs). Just imagine everyone we would have gotten if the bca line lasted till late 02 early 03 before the style switch then in 03 the TTL style was introduced and lasted all the way up till they lost the license instead of the ruthless style ever being made It would've been awesome, but it's hard for me to imagine them lasting that long with all of the competition in the marketplace. Tech toys became all the rage in the late '90s and I don't think the rubbery BCA limbs would've held up. BCA was a niche concept that lasted far longer than anyone expected. man...$20 for 4 figures & 4 belts we had it SO good back in the day No doubt. It was fun while it lasted lol. So I’ve been adding more figures to my collection since my collection post a few weeks ago. -Series 3 Diesel, has some paint wear. I think I’ve found one available MOC that I may get and replace this one with. -This Backlash Triple H in the black pants is one of my favorites. -Triple H, this attempt at The Game was a bit of a let down lol. -The metallic green Signature Series Triple H was the first version of this mold that I had as a kid. -Picked these DTA Tour 3 DOA figures, I love these and had forgotten about this version of them until recently. -Got this Jeff Jarrett with red and white designs to replace the other one that I have that has a lot of paint wear. -Took a bit to track down this version of the Rock, but glad to add it to the collection. -Pillman is the only STOMP figure that I have in my collection, eventually want his Slammers figure too. -Never really liked this mold of Undertaker, but this is my favorite version of it. The black and purple coloring looks cool. -The only new style BCA that I have is this Jericho. Love the purple barbed wire tights. Also picked up this MOC Jeff Jarrett, which I just opened up and let him breathe after taking these pictures. I already had this figure, but I had gotten mine loose and he didn’t come with the accessories. So I got this carded Jarrett so I could have him with his glasses and hat. Great pickups. I'm also a fan of the Backlash HHH on the left. Ahmed legs HHH sends shivers down my spine. I love the DOA jean wash. Jakks was so good at capturing that kind of detail. Road To WrestleMania Jericho is a new BCA favorite of mine. The metallic purple tights with silver barbed wire designs pops on that figure. Anytime I see Series 6 Double J now, I always think of someone (probably from here) who said it reminds them of Elton John. I can't unsee that.

Are there actual differences between the Harris Bros (Skull and 8-Ball) figures released in the Best Of line? Yes. The tattoos are different and Skull has a white undershirt, among other things. Parts are exactly the same, though. Here are some pics: Are there any differences in the tattoos or anything? Double-checked and yeah, there are many differences lol. Skull's eyes have blue pupils, whereas 8-Ball's are black (his 2 Tuff Series 1 figure at least, which is what I'm using for comparison purposes here). Skull's airbrushed hair (the shading on the top of his head, similar to the Headbangers figures) is a smaller size and doesn't wrap around his head like 8-Ball's does. As far as Skull's tattoos are concerned, he has one on his left bicep and two on his right bicep, both of which are significantly different from 8-Ball's. The left arm has a head of a woman or ghost (?) with long, flowing black hair. The right arm has what looks to be two sickles and the Abominable Snowman's head lol. The designs on the back of Skull's vest are the same, just faded as if they're a grayish-white instead of a bright white paint like 8-Ball has. As I said before, the t-shirt underneath is white compared to 8-Ball's black t-shirt. Skull's jeans have a dark stonewash appearance compared to 8-Ball's jet black pants. Also, Skull's belt buckle is painted whereas 8-Ball's is not. I'll take some pics for you if that's any easier. Here you go: 2 Tuff Series 1 8-Ball is on the left and Best of '98 Series 1 Skull is on the right. Hope that helps.

Man, I was so happy with that new Triple H head mold (Is that what you call it? I want to say scan out of habit). That first figure was cool but this was an such an upgrade, torso too. It actually reflected his look at the time, I was a big DX mark. Still am. Love that Pillman figure. The series it came from, another story. I just thought it captured his look very well, even though it was a bit different from the main BCA line. I was also a big fan of the Crush, Chainz, Skull & 8 Ball figures. Only 1 of the Harris Bros was released, until the end of the year Best of line, correct? Otherwise you had to buy two 2-Packs. I never understood why they used that torso for Edge. Edge was never that big in his entire career, let alone then. My hate for Edge (until he became a real player when he won the belt) carried over to his figure I guess. Love the pics, bring back a lot of memories. Yeah, I would call it a new head sculpt/mold. Scans didn't become a thing until after BCA. Skull was released in Best of '98 Series 1. There was a lot of carryover from previous Superstars series when Series 7 was released, probably to cut down on costs. Austin and Taker had new sculpts, but the rest were essentially repaints from the neck down (X-Pac came from Owen Hart, Edge from HHH, Val Venis from Sycho Sid, and Dr. Death from Mark Henry).

A few things The belt color variation is technically later edition seeing as the first editions had a misspelling on the box Europeam and European. Also wasn't that X-Pac released in the Perfect 10 Box Set?

therealworldchampionYeah, I hadn't looked into it as far as the error goes, but I believe that checks out. Perfect 10 X-Pac was a Fully Loaded Series 2 re-release, with white tights instead.

Which came first of the second wave of belts, the Off The Mat set of the Championship Title Belt set? Just looking at them I assume the Off The Mat set, since Rock has IC title. For some reason I thought it was second. The Austin in this set is probably the best BCA ring gear version Jakks ever did. I’m tempted to see if I can find it online. Does anyone have a link to any videos or write ups on how to take apart BCA figures? I kind of have an itch to make the versions I always wanted as a kid now that I know how to customize.

I have popped into this topic periodically over the last couple years and I just want to say that this is my absolute favorite thread on these boards.
BCA's were what got me into wrestling figures and I still own every single BCA I ever purchased or received as a gift.
On that note, for you BCA experts in here what is the best way to store the figures to avoid discoloration? I pulled my figures out of storage only to find a couple had faded badly. They were previously stored loose inside of a Tupperware bin. I now have them sealed inside ziploc bags and inside the same Tupperware bin.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I want to keep these as fresh looking as possible for as long as I can.
You guys rock and thank you for all the information, nostalgia and smiles with your dedication and hard work here in this thread.

Feel free to pop in anytime and join the conversation. I wish I could say I own all of my original figures. For me, it's more like a handful of originals plus totes of stuff I've bought over the past 12 years lol. My storage routine is pretty simple. Haven't had any trouble with discoloration so far, knock on wood. I always go with these 5x8 PolyPro Ultra Clear Zip Plain 2.0 Mil Bags since most of my loose collection is in the 6-6.5" range. Even though I haven't broken the seal yet to test them out, I hear these Dry & Dry 10 Gram Premium Pure & Safe Silica Gel Packets are good for protecting from humidity. Just to be safe, I also keep a dehumidifier running at all times in the downstairs room where my figures are stored.

It's been too long since I've posted any pics of my BCA purchases, so here's a recap of just about everything I've bought since earlier this year: Because I owned the KB Austin giveaway on the left, I felt it was only right to seek out the version ON the right, which was a Canadian exclusive cardback variant. This is probably one of the few packaging variants that I think I would go out of my way to get, and because of this, I don't have any plans to open it. I got this Series 6 Owen Hart packaging error simply because I thought it was a really cool piece. Originally, I wanted to buy another Series 6 Owen to update the loose one I have, which is in less than stellar condition due to improper storing years ago. But when I saw this, even as rough as the packaging looks, I knew that I'd rather keep it MOC and maybe display it with my Blue Blazer someday. This was a mini lot that I just happened to catch at the right time. I was really in the market for a 2 Tuff 3 Kane with variant Jerry Lawler legs and this one jumped out at me. I've since replaced it with a "minter" version, but I was glad to get my hands on this even as a backup. LOD 2000 Animal will also be useful if for no other reason than I'll have extra shoulder pads I can give to BCA Droz, should I ever want to reenact that awful storyline. I sat on these three Amazon Warehouse deals as long as I could until I eventually caved. At under $10 each, and considering I'm a predominately loose collector, I couldn't beat those prices. All three were listed in "Used - Like New" condition. I love a good bargain, but especially when it's of the BCA variety. The Rock wishes his Brahma Bull tattoo ever looked this good. Even though I already had the Perfect 10 set in the WrestleMania 2000 packaging, I still wanted this one. I love the mass of this collection of figures. Not really what I would consider the "Best of '99" or anything close to that, but it is an impressive array of talent. I can't even imagine a store offering something like this today. If you're looking for a such thing as a BCA starter kit, this would be it. Aside from the WrestleMania XIV 3-Packs, which aren't really a priority for me, this set represents the last of the BCA Headbangers figures that I needed. Come to mention it, these most closely resemble the WrestleMania XIV figures, right down to the "REAL MEN WEAR SKIRTS" text on the back of their t-shirts. There are some minor paint differences (skirts and socks aren't identical to the original WMXIV repaints), but that's to be expected. Bushbangers or Headwhackers? You decide! This Raw Is War Series Mankind is one of several variations that can easily be found on the secondary market today. I sought this one out because it reminded me of the skinny brown tights that Foley often wore in '99, rather than sweatpants. Is it an improvement? Maybe not, but I do like the smaller parts that are utilized here. It's a little break from the monotony that is 2 Tuff 3 Mankind's arms and Cactus legs. Speaking of Cactus legs, I dig this Break Down In Your House Mankind prototype with Cactus-like boots. And that's all for now, but I may have a few more items to share before the year's out. Thanks for looking.

Just got my hands on a MOC Jeff Jarrett and Debra Summerslam 98 Two Pack for like 15 bucks. Was really happy with the price, and probably my favorite BCA Jarrett personally.

Newest addition to my collection And of course I had to let him breathe Did anyone sign up for this? I've never seen this version of Vader before...I recall mine being more maroon in color and being from the regular Superstars line, I believe? Looks great man!
