Only way to fix loose joints is to torso crack them and tighten the screws. That only works for series 3 and after though because prior to that they didn't have screws and there is no way to fix them. I don't really recommend taking them apart just to tighten them though. I'd have to see what you mean with Goldust's head. Finished 2000 red jacket Paul Bearer  Thanks for the response! The ones that are really bad are most likely from series 1 or 2. The all purple tie undertaker is the worst where there is actually a small gap on the right leg to the point where you can see the pin or screw. I packed them away until I can get a better bin but the Series 1 Goldust I received had a head that was barely attached so I had to use some superglue. Did goldust not have a standard peg for the head? I remember my breakdown in your house goldust had its head break off and I also have another one with that same issue. That Paul is amazing! Yes, Goldust’s was not a standard peg. Neither were 8-Ball/Skull, Chyna, and Recon (not sure about The Interrogator). As BoneCrunchingCustoms said, anything released prior to Series 3 (Series 1, Series 2, Survivor Series 4-pack, and the first three Superstars 2-packs) used pins instead of screws, and there’s not much you can do to the parts themselves to correct them once they’ve gone loose. With the exception of Razor Ramon and Ultimate Warrior, all of the names released early on were later upgraded to the screws. If the screws loosen, you might be able to use something like dental floss for a temporary fix. Part swaps with figures from ‘97 would be possible, too, if say you wanted to retain the torso, such as the all-purple tie Undertaker from Series 2. Great job on the Paul Bearer, BoneCrunchingCustoms! That would’ve made for a killer 2-pack. |

I don't know what it is, but anytime I start getting nostalgic for the 1990s, I always come back to this line lol, it was such a core memory from the 96-99 years.
With that said, is it a good idea to pick up the series 1 figures in their rerelease versions? I remember the first two series being so damn brittle, were the best of releases sturdier?
Was the GITD Taker reissued?

I don't believe glowtaker was reissued. |

BoneCrunchingCustoms Love the Big Show in ring gear. Thank you for showing the process behind lengthening the neck. The work that goes into that is fascinating to me. I kind of prefer the TTL head because, along with the original BCA parts, it feels very much “of its time.” It’s too bad we never got a ponytail version of that excellent Series 9 head sculpt.
HeelPiper Yes, definitely go out of your way to get the following: Series 1 Special Re-Releases of Goldust and Diesel (on the rectangular Series 3 card backs) Series 3 Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels Series 4 Vader Best of ‘97 Series 1 Undertaker and Bret Hart Best of ‘97 Series 2 Shawn Michaels All are improvements upon their original Series 1 and/or Series 2 figures. Unfortunately, there are no re-releases of Series 1 Razor or Series 2 GITD Taker/Owen/Warrior.

Chicago Thanks. My favorite head is the TTL series 4 out of the 3, except it sits a bit funny and the TTL style head is a bit difficult to work with without massacring the inside, which I don't want to do. I agree the BCA sculpt is great. I suppose it could work for a late '99 Big Show when he had the t-shirt, biker shorts and his hair down. I made some upgrades to this version of Test.   with the BCA head

Cleaned these up from a loose lot. It's the re-release Undertaker with nice tight joints. The Shawn I never had and can't go wrong with Badd blood Paul Bearer, esp now that I can put my minty one back into the badd blood box where he belongs.   A quick dx hbk fixup and simple but pretty sweet Test  |

Paul Bearer with classic superstars 3-pack head swap figure Amazing how well that head works on the BCA. Question dude, do the customs you make tend to have head swivel or are the heads stationary? I would assume that having any articulation would be tough given you're kind of roughing things together but I'm curious. |

Biff Slamkovich™Thanks. I was surprised how well the head worked also. It was an experiment that turned out. 99% of my customs have head swivel. Getting the soft BCA heads off is the hardest part because they are almost always glued on. But some boiling water and careful work with a mini screwdriver usually does the trick.

I have been looking to get into doing some BCA customs. Your work is incredible.
Question, how / what process do you use to paint / darken BCA figure skin to match the tone of a Mattel head? Your finished product does not appear painted, it looks just like the original plastic with same shine. How do you achieve that "painted but doesn't look painted" look?

I find their kislev flesh tone matches closely enough to most of the mattel/jakks generic skin tone. As for the shine effect, it comes from the use of mod podge. |
