welcome back sir! Good one to bring back... interesting update. Hopefully everything is well with Pillman. But its not the infamous car wreck.

Very sweet update. The only real complaint is you continue to say "I did this" and "I did that." Back in my text fedding days I realized how boring it can get reading a paragraph written like that. Don't feel bad though as I struggle with this often, also.
Glad you brought this back. Ever since USWF I've loved your stuff. Will keep up with this.

Awesome update, this is a fantastic read. Love the feud so far between Douglas and Pillman and the promos are awesome. Really interested in where this goes next.

I could really see a dream segment from the car accident, or something trippy happening in the story, and he has a messed up dream filled with darkness. You should pull out all the stops to be edgy in writing Pillman's character but also as a human, almost as though he was a seriously wounded person. The way you write Pillman in average storylines is plain and does not show much to who he was. You could gain a lot more response from the audience if you showed Pillman's human side being as messed up as his career side. Hopefully you do show us some really dark moments in the next few segments.

I genuinely love the way you are setting this up. Pillman is a character I've always been interested in and I am enjoying this a crap load. I can't wait to see how you deal with Pillman's recovery from the crash and how that will affect his feud with Douglas and his general experience of ECW.

Fantastic update. You're writing it all so well and the feud between Douglas/Pillman is great. I love the cliffhanger you've left us with - really anticipating the next update! Good stuff, as usual.

Sometime after the crash... (Waking up to Melanie)
An eternity passes…my eyes open to a white blur…where am I?
“Brian! Brian! Are you awake?”
I know that voice…uhh…
“Me – Mel..an…Melan –“
“Brian, sweetie are you there?”
Her tears drip down… I reach out to her ---

Sometime after the crash... (Dreaming of the accident)
Pulling out of the parking lot, I’m rocking out to Stone Temple Pilots’ Interstate Love Song. The cool fresh air is keeping me awake, enough to sing out loud, “Breathing is the hardest thing to do, with all I've said an --–“ while an SUV swerves at the car. The force of the impact was crushing…my back…I can’t feel my back…and my head! Blood? Blood in my eyes!…I try to crawl… somewhere….to safety…such sharpness in the head…
I collapse ---
|
Sometime after the crash... (Dreaming of the future)
I have never been stronger or better. Standing in the gorilla position, I am awaiting my call to go out. Vince McMahon stares strongly into his monitor.
“Brian, stand by!”
Adrenaline is pumping
“Cue the music…Brian you are on – Go! Go! Go!”
I push through the curtain and emerge in front of 60,000 screaming fans. Howard Finkel introduces me to the crowd, but no introduction is necessary. I walk down the aisle and around the ring. I swear I can hear Jim Ross passionately putting over the feud and the match. I crawl into the ring and keep an eye on [Steve] Austin. The music ends, but the crowd’s electricity causes goose bumps to trickle down my back.
I have never been so nervous for a match in my life, but this is Wrestlemania and this is for the WWF Championship. The bell rings ---

March 15, 1996
My opens open to a familiar white blur. My eyes adjust to the light...Melanie is standing at the foot of the bed.
"Brian?"
"Mel -"
"Oh! Brian! Thank God!" She has tears running down her face as she runs up to hug me.
"What day is it?"
"It is the fifteenth, baby."
"How long has it been?"
"It has been a week..You were in a coma, and the doctors were think --" Her tears interrupt her. This is just too serious for Melanie to talk about right now.
A nurse walks in and is joyed to see me awake. The events of the next few hours seem to be a blur. Nurses and doctors spend hours questioning me, checking stats, and running a few tests. I just want to see my kids...I just want to get home.
"Get me the f*ck out of here, Doc"
The stunned doctor responds, "First thing tomorrow morning, but we need to observe you for a few more hours..."
Melanie walks in with the kids. They jump into the bed, their tiny arms could not by pried off me. My beautiful baby girls asks, "Daddy, are you going to die?"
Melanie answers for me, as I just break down and cry.

Intense and emotional writing in this one. Could the dream of the WrestleMania match between Brian and Austin be foreshadowing? Hope to see Pillman get back in the ring ASAP.

Wouldn't be too surprised to see Pillman/Austin actually happen at WrestleMania. Good entry, I liked the dreaming of the future and dreaming of the past. I'm really digging this, Matt.

I'm not sure if it was a mistake, or just a bit of a rewrite, but its strange that the Hummer cut him off. In real life, his Hummer hit a tree. I hope the Wrestlemania dream is just that. I just wouldn't want Pillman to turn out psychic or anything.

Just read through this man and seriously there's not a lot I can say negative about this, it's probably the best of these types of diaries I've ever read on here. The write-ups are fantastic, you capture the characters pretty darn well and you do a good job in taking us into the world of Pillman. Seriously not a whole lot I can say negative about this, good job man.

“First thing tomorrow morning, but we need to observe you for a few more hours”
That was three days ago! Doc is still weary of releasing me because of partial brain damage. He said I lost 3% of my brain function, but there is no difference. He said one good drop on the back of my head could kill me, but I have no fear. My arm and ankle are broken. Will I recover? Not soon enough.
Melanie and the kids come every day, and the whole situation has become easier for all of us, until about two in the afternoon of this fateful afternoon:
Paul Heyman has been phoning the house for the past ten days, trying to get some sort of update on my condition. He pretends to care about my health, but he is more concerned over my angle with [Shane] Douglas…so am I. I just want to go back to work, forget about this disaster, support my family and entertain the fans.
Melanie and I discuss our future together for awhile before she spurts out, “I want you to never wrestle again. Not for my sake or yours, but for the kids. You can get killed out there, Brian – the doctor told me so!”
“What about the house? Do you like where we live? Do you f*ckin’ like having a roof over your head!? How would you like us to survive without a house!? Without an income!”
“Don’t yell!”
“I’m sor –“
“Don’t apologize, save your breath.”
Melanie gets up, grabs her jacket, and is ready to leave. “Mel…I love you –“
“I love you too…”
A kiss on the cheek and she is gone.
The doc enters soon thereafter. We talk about my wrestling career. “It may be time to hang up those boots of yours, Brian.”
“Are you saying I can never wrestle again?”
“I am advising against it, for your safety.”
He writes me a few prescriptions for antibiotics and painkillers, to soothe pain and prevent infection. He says I will be released tomorrow.
I sit alone for awhile, watching snow fall to the ground. I reach over to the phone next to me and I reach out to Paul [Heyman].
“Paul.”
“Brian?”
“The one and only”
“How are you?”
“I want to cut to the chase, Paul. I’ll be out in Philadelphia on Friday. Tell Shane we are going to finish up the angle in two weeks. I am in no condition to wrestle, but I have an idea in mind.”
We talk for a few minutes, but I cut the conversation short. I love to leave Paul in suspense. I than dial Steve’s [Austin] number. He doesn’t answer, but he will have a nice voicemail waiting for him. “Steve…it’s Brian…umm, I need to talk to you…try to have Vince’s number ready.”

A nice entry this time around. Judging by the interaction with his wife, seems like Brian is going to be dealing with some marriage issues to go along with his injuries. Not surprised to see Brian trying to get into WWF, but part of me would like to see him stick around in ECW for awhile before jetting off to WWF.
Good work, Matt.

Really glad to see this back, Matt. I'm loving the route you're going with Pillman wanting to continue to wrestle but his wife wanting him to retire. I'm interested to see how you're going to wrap up the Pillman/Douglas feud and how he wants into the WWF, perhaps for the bigger paycheck to support his family? Great writing.

the week of March 22, 1996
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. This week has been poop. My body is sore, mind is racing a thousand thoughts a second, and Melanie would stop fighting with me. We try to hide the fighting form the kids, but that isn’t always possible. Great, another fight and now the kids are crying too.
What she doesn’t understand is, I just want to wrestle…I am just going to wrestle! I need to support my family, keep bread on the table, and a roof overhead. Soon I will be with Vince [McMahon]…well hopefully. Steve hasn’t called back yet, but he has an issue with checking his answering machine frequently.
Paul called on Tuesday; Melanie picked up the phone and hung up on him. He called back Wednesday and thankfully I answered the phone.
“Brian?”
“Paul? What’s the f*ck do you want?”
“You’re comin’ Friday…still? Right?”
“Melanie has been giving me f*cking grief all week…I have no f*cking choice now.”
“Brian…if you don’t think you’ll be able to do it…don’t care. Don’t risk your f*ckin’ life over this.”
“Paul – wrestling is my life. I’ll see you on Friday and a check for $1,000.”
Paul is a brilliant man, a great book, and a horrible boss.
Friday comes and I am off to Philadelphia. Melanie cries begging me not to go. I make her a promise, “If it doesn’t go right tonight…I will never go back to wrestling again.” We shared kisses and I love you’s before I head into the taxi.
It is raining out and it is just absolutely dreadful. I reach into my bag and take a few pills to take the edge off of things. The driver looks back at me suspiciously…nothing is wrong at all.

How the have I missed some entries. This is seriously one of the best the best written diary I have read. Every update has a real meaning, shows true emotion and continues or adds a storyline. I bloody loved the dream sequence and fits perfectly. I disagree with Bock as I would love to see it happen because he's making his own destiny by phoning up Paul. By the looks of it he looks to be done with ECW which is ok in my eyes as long as he goes to WWE with a push. Would have liked to see something with Raven in ECW but I'm still marking over a potential of an Austin/Pilman feud. I really hope you keep this going. Good luck.

I've read the last few entries and this is seriously one of my favorite diaries I've ever read. The entries seem so real, almost like a drama movie. By sound of the last entry, it looks like he'll be leaving ECW for sure. It'll be great if he goes to WWE. I'll try to read the earlier entries in order to get the entire thing, but from what I've read, this is phenominal. Keep it up!
