Infinite Hollywood has a new Drew McIntyre Mattel figure review. A lot of this review focuses on the minor differences between Mattel's basics and Jakks figures. If you're gung ho one way or the other, you might get butt hurt. If you're into a honest review on one fan's opinion. Check it out! Infinite Hollywood: WWE Mattel Drew McIntyre Figure Review Thanks for taking a look!

I don't know man, I can't say that review was totally impartial or objective. He took a boring BASIC figure to begin with and reviewed some points that I don't necessarily agree with either. Also, to my knowledge Jakks never produced a Drew McIntyre figure so how can he compare head scans and claim Jakks is better? (correct me if I'm wrong on that one).
The BASIC line is more geared towards children, cheaper price point, less articulation, less-to-no accessories, and sometimes less paint details. It's not their only line. Elites come with fantastic accessories and are completely detailed and we're only 8 months into the line. Jakks RA line was their flagship line for YEARS before DA and they still didn't paint all the details on the back of their figures. As boring a figure as Drew is, the attention to detail on his gear is still there.
He's got a point about the wrist-tape mold, there's no excuse for Mattel painting it on like they do. And the knee pads can definitely be improved.
But if he's looking for some revolutionary discovery from a BASIC figure, he's barking up the wrong tree.

I can't wait for another Jakks v. Mattel war to start in this thread...
The guy makes some good points, but nothing any of us haven't read, thought or argued about before. Drew's Mattel figure is plain like the man himself, the attire is fine but honestly even Jakks could have gotten that right.
I do agree about the wrist tape, I like Jakks' hand/wrist setup alot better than Mattel. (With the hand being able to twist around on the wrist instead of just the hand) I'm definitley getting used to the Mattel body style though, despite there still being an issue with "larger" guys being too skinny.

Good review IMO. The guy was very unbiased between Jakks and Mattel, unlike many posters on here, and basically just reviewed the fig for what it is.

Sorry man, but I gotta disagree with your review on some points.
- "Mattel's single innovation in the line has been scale." Their attention to detail is far superior to Jakks. Just comparing the tattoos of Mattel's Taker to Jakks'. Blows it out of the water. And I can go on with other detail comparisons. Also, even if you feel that scale is their only innovation, that's still a pretty big factor.
- "We're seeing Mattel reuse the same bodies over and over." I think Mattel has about the same amount of different body types as Jakks had throughout their whole RA lifespan. And it has only been 8 months. It'd be awesome if everyone had their own bodies, but that's just not gonna happen. Jakks had 3 different shirtless body types their first couple of years. Mattel already has at least 7.
- "Head Scan: Point Jakks" I do agree that some Mattel headscans are horrid, but, overall, it's much better than Jakks, IMO. I think more of the problem comes from the actual paint job rather than the head scan (I remember seeing someone repaint a Mattel Taker, making it 10x better). Orton, Henry, Christian, Ted DiBiase, Kane, Miz, Santino, etc, all already have better head scans than anything Jakks made. And they're not bobbleheads either.
I do agree with you on Mattel's QC though. They need to step that department up. But solid review, man. The first half was good, but then the second half sounded more like a Mattel-bashing.

If you're going to review a figure, why not make the majority of the review... oh, I don't know, about the FIGURE? I mean, I'm just saying, that seemed like more of a comparison between two companies than a review.
I did a comparison on my blog - but that was months ago, when Mattel's line first launched. No real reason for one this late in the game.
